As I'm local to the New York area, I'll be acting as host for the New York State ADD Forum Support Group.

This section of the forum will be dedicated to members of the ADD Forums that live in New York State.

Need help finding doctors, advocates, local assistance? Post questions in this forum.

Have excellent doctors that you've found are well educated on ADD/ADHD or other disorders? let us know!

Any New York-specific challenges you're facing? Like with schools, etc? Let's discuss it here.

Hi, I live in Brooklyn and am having some major issues finding a doctor that doesn't charge $400+ for the first visit. I have been on adderall now for 4 years, and just recently switched to dexadrine (which isn't working). My current doctor went on vacation without telling me, and I'm kind of stuck on my own now trying to convince doctors that I am not one of those drug-seeking 20+'s. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance:)

As Vikon did not receive a response, I don't have much hope but here goes:

Anyone recommend an affordable ADD specialist in Manhattan? Or at least one that accepts insurance?

Bueller? Bueller?

Hi.

I am looking for a psychiatrist or therapist who can help me with my ADD. I am currently on Adderall, but don't feel comfortable with my psych. I would like to find someone I would feel more comfortable with so that I can be more productive.

Does anybody know anyone who takes Oxford?

Thank you.

Hi, I am searching for a career councilor who also specialized in ADD. This combination seems really rare, and I have been searching for so long now! Please let me know of any centers that specialize in Career/Add in NYC. Thanks!

I just joined this forum and it may be too late for this information but I have a great ADHD doctor in Manhattan that takes several types of insurance. His name is Miron Baron and he is affiliated with First Pres. He is located on 63rd street and Broadway and is only a block and a half away from the Columbus Circle/59th Street subway station. He is incredibly knowledgeable about my disorder. Hope this helps someone b/c I know how hard it was to find him!

It is never to late when it comes to mentioning a good doctor however I have combined recommendations in this thread (http://www.addforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=629249#post629249) I will place a copy the one above so that all the information about health care professional is in a single thread.
