Nothing happens. Java & Javascript are on. Security is set to low safety.

Are you using IE?

Using IE it works fine. Using Mozilla Firefox, it loads, but doesnt log in all the way.

I am using IE and it is NOT working fine! I just updated my IE and changed my settings to allow just about everything and it still doesn't work. Is there something that I need to download?

It was working fine for me last night...using latest IE, etc, etc....
Maybe you aren't waiting long enough for it to load? I get that screen too, but have to wait a minute for it to load.

I am testing it now.

It should load very rapidly. Do you see a login type screen (automated process) before it goes to the picture you attached above?

David,

When I load it in Mozilla Firefox, the Java console loads, but it gets the following error:

Logging In. Please Wait....
Verifying Password, Please Wait...
Invalid Username or Password. Please try again.

Works great in IE (using same Java)

David,

No there is no log in screen. I get nothing but what I showed in that image. I have had it open for more than 10 minutes now and still nothing. I am using the latest version of IE 6 in WIN 98SE.

You might try updating your Java. I've run across problems on Windoze machines that updating the Java worked out.

Just an idea,
David

Yeah, updating Java might work. Pershingd and I are chatting in there right now, so it's working ok.

Already have the latest and greatest downloaded as I wrote before. I am now running a diagnostic but I suspect the problem is WIN 98 compatibility not anything on my machine (other than WIN98 that is...)

The diagnostic tool for Microsoft VM found no problems with my java. I also went to the Microsoft.com and ran all of their tests for java problems. I was able to run java on all of the websites Microsoft links to. According to Microsoft, this means that the problem is on the individual website involved, not on my computer.

All of which leads me to believe even more strongly than before that this is a WIN98 compatibility issue. Can anyone with WIN98 (second edition) confirm that they have been able to chat?

If you are having difficulties getting online one of our chat clients, this check-list may help you determine exactly what the problem is, and how to resolve it. The majority of our users have no trouble at all connecting.

Secondly, ensure that your computer is capable of running our software. Chances are most likely that your computer can run our chat software. Often times; however; users may disable a specific feature on their web browser that may cause problems. Ensure the following features are enabled on your computer's web browser:

Java™
If you are running a version of a Microsoft Windows, or a BSD/*NIX variant ™ and see only a broken link icon, you will need to download a copy of the Java™ Virtual Machine in order to run our application. You may download Java™ Support for your browser from the link below:

Sun Java™ Plugin (for Netscape, Opera, MSIE, etc..) available at www.sun.com

We strongly recommend upgrading using the most modern version of your web browser available today. Certain browsers (esp. Netscape 5 and below) running on Macintosh platforms are not capable of running our software due to issues outside of our control. We recommend that Macintosh users use Netscape 7.0, or MSIE 5.x. As WebTV does not support Java™, WebTV users will not be able to access our chat rooms.

Users behind firewalls may need to inform their local IT/network administrator to allow TCP connections on the port in use by SigmaChat. Contact your chat room owner (webmaster) to determine which server and port number this chat room has been allocated. Your chat room owner can find this information in the Help section of their chat room's control panel. SigmaChat generally uses ports 8000-8009 at client#.sigmachat.com, where # may be any integer.

AOL Members: Some users have reported that the built-in AOL browser has difficulty connecting to our service, or does not load colors/emoticons properly. To resolve this, minimize your AOL connection, and use the Internet Explorer browser that came with your operating system to access our chat rooms

Chat had quit on me for a while but tonight it seems fine again. Great! Now it's too late to find anyone there! heh
Cheers! Ian.
