View Full Version : excessive salivation w/ Concerta...weird?
FlakeyGirl 06-18-04, 12:18 AM Has anyone ever had this side effect w/ Concerta. DH just started 36mg and reports this odd and incredibly irritating side effect. He doesn't take any other meds. What's up?
I told him he should get a side job as an envelope licker to pay for the medicine....he did not find it as amusing as I did.
jaimegerise 06-18-04, 12:25 AM LOL well, I take 36 mg concerta and have been for a while. I have never noticed this happen to me. How strange. heh
That is odd. I found that Concerta and Ritalin actually dry my mouth out, not make me salivate more. Perhaps the side effect will lessen with time (or he'll take your advice and put it to good use)!
gabriela 06-18-04, 09:44 AM krisp - one more dry mouth here...
been on concerta (54 mg) concerta for almost 12 weeks now!
:)
I am on 54 mg of Concerta, and I have recently noticed that I will have drool in the corner of my mouth when I roll over at night.
I sleep face down, so it pools just outside my mouth, but must be warm enough not to wake me.
But, when I roll over to the other side of my face, it will get cold and/or run.
Eeeewwwww.
I only notice it maybe once a week, but I never had it before the meds.
gabriela 06-20-04, 08:34 AM okay...
so, can i be a night drooler and a day dry-mouther?
:uhh:
i've kept myself under observation for the past couple of days (and nights...), and, yeah, i guess i drool a bit during my sleep, too...
In retrospect:
I also started to grow my mustache down about a 1/4 inch below the coners of my mouth, so maybe it is just collecting in the hair when it used to evaporate.
I guest my observations haven't been scientific.
gabriela 06-20-04, 11:58 AM so, steve - are you suggesting i shave my mustache?!
:D
Concerta made my mouth very dry, even causing me to have a dry sticky throat. I felt sort of like a had allergies when I took it.
neuroangel 06-20-04, 10:25 PM My mouth isn't really dry...I've actually been drinking a bit less than I used to. At night though, I keep waking up with my face in a small puddle of cold drool. It's so disgusting. Infrequently, I awaken from having a completely dry mouth and throat.

FlakeyGirl 06-27-04, 06:25 PM Okay, thanks, all. Good stuff to know. The problem seems to be lessening for now, but he's due to up the dosage. I guess I'll keep sleeping in my raincoat and boots for the time being. :p
gabriela 06-27-04, 06:52 PM i've put my rubber duckie on a leash, and i tied the leash around my hand -when he starts floating away from me at night, i wake up, and change the pillow case...
*NOT*!
i would *NEVER* put my little darling on a leash...
:D
FlakeyGirl 06-27-04, 06:56 PM It gives a new meaning to "night moisturizer." eeeew, sick!
