HP just started Strattera; this is the 4th day and he is still on a small dose (25mg.--he is 20 and weighs about 295). He hasn't had any side effects but hasn't had any effects at all. He says he doesn't feel anything. I would still have to say I haven't seen any effects--he is still extremely distractible--pretty much the same. I am thinking he probably won't see any effects until his dosage is ramped up. In any case, he is impatient. He once took someone else's meds--a stimulant--and he said he felt that right away, so I think he is disappointed. I am trying to get him to be patient...

You might start seeing some changes soon, but the research shows that it takes 8-10 weeks -- titrating up from 25 to 100mg over the course of the first 3-5 weeks.

Strattera is more like an anti-depressant than a stimulant. Stims work right away, ADs take weeks to kick in.

I know, it's really hard to be THAT patient, but I am glad I stuck it out.

It really alleviated my depression and anxiety after 16 years of other stuff that didn't. Worth the wait if it works for him.

Unfortunately he is not the most patient person...
