Hey, I have heard from some sources that drinking fruit juice during the day makes some meds less effective, as the acid in fruit juice makes a person less able to absorb their meds. Is there any truth to this? If it is true, what else should I drink? I'm a big sugar free juice junkie, and I hate water. Also, I am noticeing that a lot of sodas, even diet ones, have citric acid, which makes me think they would effect my ability to absord meds too. Any personal experiance with this or additional information I am not aware of? Advice is gretly appreciated as I just started a new med that is one of those apparently effected by fruit juice. Thanks in advance!

Hmmm good question, but I tell you what I noticed...
In the brief time that I tried strattera...I noticed that on the days I took it with Orange Juice....THOSE were the days I would get nauseated from it! ack
I have heard that taking stimulants with Orange juice and other citrus juices make the meds less effective. I don't know about drinking juice through out the day or how it might affect longer acting medication.

I don’t know about any other meds but I have seen warnings about citric acid and Adderall absorption.

Yes, see. at first I thought it was just citrus juices too, and so I just drank other types of juice. But, after switching meds, my therapist (who is not the doctor prescribeing my meds, but who treats many folks with ADHD) informed me it was juice in general and things that make the stomach more acidic. I have found some web sites that back this up. And, as I've recently had some problems in other areas of my life due to ADHD, I'm trying to do everything possible to enhance my ability to function, so I got to wondering if what I was eating/ drinking was effecting how well my medication was working.
Maybe I should ask my doc? I was just wondering if anyone else had had any experiance with this, it would save me a lot of run around with leaving my doctor messages and having her leave reply questions for me etc etc.
