For those of you who take prescription meds, how long did it take you after the initial diagnosis to start meds?

I didn't wanna be bonkery anymore! Tara 06-25-04, 05:48 PM Do you mean how long did it take for the doctor to prescribe the meds or for us to decide we were going to try medication? sam 06-25-04, 06:14 PM For you to decide to go on them Ian 06-25-04, 10:51 PM I was diagnosed nearly two years before I became willing to try the meds. Cheers! Ian. paulbf 06-26-04, 01:04 AM I always thought psych meds were stupid. I was 40 (this year) before I considered the concept then I delved into it willingly and had no luck with stimulants and wellbutrin... still thinking antidepressants were for dopes and too dangerous. Within several months I was willing to try Effexor and it's been a significant help but perhaps not ideal. I still don't like the idea of staying on them forever but think it's worth experimenting to find the right mix. t-bird 06-26-04, 03:37 AM After my diagnosis I started meds as soon as I could find a doctor to prescribe them. Which I think was a week or two. fasttalkingmom 06-26-04, 10:02 AM About a week........I wanted to take it on the weekend when I wasn't working to see how it effected me. joanrdtobe 06-26-04, 04:42 PM Pretty much after the diagnosis....I feel as if the doctor presented me with my problem...and he was wanting to start doing something about it right away...so why argue with him? He was right....I've never regretted the meds....:) |
