I am an avid runner and have been training for a half marathon for the last few months. I usually run later at night and have been doing anywhere between 5-10 miles without and pain or fatigue.

Today I went for an earlier run after taking my medicine and noticed an immense pain/pressure in my mid/lower calfs at around mile 2. It is very frustrating as my training had been going very well.

I was wondering if anyone else has noticed any similiar effects when taking this medication? I am on Focalin XR 20mg.

stimulants including caffeine in general are vasoconstrictors thats how they increase blood pressure

Vasoconstriction is the narrowing of the blood vessels resulting from contraction of the muscular wall of the vessels

"Medications that cause vasoconstriction include antihistamines (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antihistamines), decongestants (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decongestants) and stimulants (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stimulants) used to treat ADHD (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ADHD)."

stretching and massaging the area increases blood flow

you should look into niacin which increases blood flow. but it does cause temporary flushing as a result of increased blood flow under the skin
