Tara 06-26-04, 07:09 PM Omega-3 Fish oil is something that a lot of people with ADD take with and with out ADD medication. Dr Edward Hallowell who wrote the book Driven to Distraction highly reccomends Omega-3 Fish oil. NightStar 06-26-04, 07:17 PM Thanks so much, that will be a great start, beings that I can't afford the medications right now. Forced to figure out how to fix my problem so I can function at work - hopefully. Thanks again so much, Andrew 06-26-04, 08:16 PM Nightstar, If you have a particular challenge at work, perhaps a peer coach might help? We have a peer coaching section, here at the forums as well :) NightStar 06-26-04, 08:45 PM Hey, thanks so much, did not know that was what the coaching section was, I had assumed it was talking about people in counseling, lol Coral Rhedd 11-14-04, 01:14 AM I've been using GABA and L-Tyrosine. The first calms the sort of edgy anxiety I get when I start to do something that requires focus. The second seems to help me focus better. That's all I am taking now. That and fish oil. I most recently tried Straterra and it didn't help. drsmith 11-21-04, 03:36 PM I found an article by a Dr. James Hollingsworth that talks about supplements and ADD/ADHD.....it is about 5 pages long, so I don't want to post it..but if anyone wants to read it, just let me know and I can email it to you. Dr. Smith Prairiewind 11-22-04, 09:18 PM I've read that the B vitamins are good for nerve function, but I haven't purchased any in an individual type, e.g. B6, B12, etc. Probably B Complex would be good, and stay away from all processed sugars! ;) MindResearcher 11-26-04, 01:03 PM If recently found a product, called attend by Vaxa.com, which seems very promising. It may have too many ingredience in it, but it doesnt or at least i cannot find how much of each is in each ingredient like MGs. But For starters, Omega Fish Oils, which supports and promote the bodys neural pathways, and generate new cell membrane dendrite sites, needed for learning and attention to be sustained. AMino Acids, Such as L-Tyrosine, L-Theanine, acytyl-L-carnitine, and others which are building blocks of neurotransmitters, esp. Dopamine and NE. Also some Gaba enhancers like L-Theanine and Kava. Catecholamine precursors (Dopamine esp), which enhance L-Dopa and cause the convertion into Dopamine, such as Mucuna Prurriens, is the latest natural L-Dopa enhancement. This also enhances the creation of these neural pathways for ease in learning, and may have a slight amphetamine effect. Vinpocetine and Ginkgo increase Blood flow to the brain and oxygen along with antioxidant properties. DMAE promotes eradication of brain toxins, dangerous neuronal plaques , and clears pathways. NADH & Phosphatidyl Complex, help provide brain energy via NADH shuttle so that learning and memory proceed naturally, also provides essential precusors to acetylcholine. NADH, increases Serotonin, Dopamine, and NE. A unheard of nutrient called Radix Heraclei, i believe homeopathic, is a natural buffering agent to the brain and neuro-system helping to reduce unwanted frustration and stress, while increasing attentiveness and awareness, by normalizing neurochemical balance. ( I may have to try this) Gotu Kola, a natural stimulant which paradoxically sustain concentration in distracted individuals. And about 20 other nutrients...... SO far this one seems the most promising, may help alot or not at all. Vaxa.com |
