Please check your User CP (control panel)

Make sure to go into the forums before you to your User CP. When I'm at the main page and click on it, it get a 404 error. I have to go into the forums first, and then it'll let me into my control panel.

Exact opposite with the chat. If I'm in the chat forum and click the link to chat, I get a 404 error. You have to click on the toolbar link for it to work.

Yup. We're aware of this issue and are working on fixing it. Thanks to everyone for their patience!

My only wish is that someone would answer the question I posted or at least respond in some way. It says over 50 people have viewed my post, but nobody has replied. So sad. It's hard being a newbie.

I can feel a lot of positivety here even though probably most topics are about tiny ****ty things most people come across in everyday life.
As I've seen quite a lot of fora, this can only be beacuse of proper moderation and ofcourse right person starting it all.

Maybe, just maybe this is the right place to push the need for some kind of certification thing for internetfora about/for people with mental problems/conditions.
The intelligence is here, thats for sure...;)

I love this site- I think the people here are amazing. I know that going on here and listening to the abundance of great advice has led me to some smart decisions about treatment options and has picked me up when I am getting down about things. Its just great to have a place you feel so connected to.

I love it... I can post, read, and learn from others, put in my 2 cents... about ADD - without someone getting bored of it and/or thinking I'm making excuses... I was always afraid of posting anything about my ADD, etc. (OCD), on other forums... even if the people were nice on the others, too. But, there is a place for everything... This forum fits me to a T!!! Thank you, whoever started it!!!

Site seems OK. Certainly seems like it has helped a whole lot of people. I've gotten some useful info from the archives. Overall, seems like a good community. I was initially surprised by the international participation, particularly from Austrailia. But I dig that since that means at 4AM in NJ there are people online in Australia during the day and it gives me something to do (I work nights).

I guess I have two gripes: A) there seems to be alot of semi-whiney threads, or at least that is my take on them B) This is a peeve more than a gripe, but why does everyone feel the need to put asterisks in words anything less than G-rated? I can see f*ck, or even sh*t, bu h*ll, or pis*? Come on. I didn't read the rules all the way through (I skimmed) so maybe it's against the rules. I know it's a forum open to teens/young adults, but if I can hear these words at 8Pm on FOX.... Sue Simmons (NY newsanchor) even dropped an F-bomb on live TV two weeks ago.

Oh, and thanks for the explanation on the show all threads thing. Same thing happens in the NJ geographic forum. I had just assumed it was broken.

It is against the rules, and these words are censored by the forums software.

I just re-read the rules the best I could find them and I do see a reference to the very subjective term, 'foul language.' I;m not advocating cursing like a sailor, I just find it artificial to have redaction of common everyday usage of words generally accepted by society and not even banned by the FCC. The thread asked for my opinion, so there it is.

I don't have time to read through all the posts thus far, so if I am repeating someone's earlier advice I apologize.

There is a great deal of information on here, and for someone who is new to ADHD, it can be overwhelming. I found myself on here for the first time and it took my laptop battery going dead for me to realize I had been on for almost 5 hours (I learned that day it is called hyperfocus, LOL!) Maybe having some type of alarm every 20 to 30 minutes pop up on the screen to make sure we keep track of the time spent.

The forum is amazing. It would be nice to have a bit more traffic in some of the sub forums but its still the most heavily frequented mental health forum I have seen. Perhaps if it were labeled ADHD and other mental health issues forums or something more ambiguous it would draw more to the sub-forums.
The biggest reason I gave up on other forums is because on other forums there is no way for me to tell which threads I have posted in have been contributed to. I use the statistics box for this of course on here.
The only improvements I could think of (if there isn't already a way to do this) is to have an option to display the 'open envelope' posts at the top of the list of all the posts you have made. Also, it would be nice if there was a seperate icon next to the open envelope icon that showed if your post was directly replied to by someone.
Other than those very minor things the site is easily the best I have seen so far!

I like it.

Is there a section for people who are not in a relationship to talk about their (non-romantic) relationships with others? Like for people who live alone or are not married. Us bachelors and spinsters? Because I think we have our own issues that it can be hard to talk about with people who are involved with someone.

I don't know if there is a section like that and I missed it...or if there isn't one

the section "Relationships and Social Issues" isn't just for couples, in fact there are more than several threads in it regarding being single or discussing friend topics

I find navigating the site a bit of a chore and I'm sure there are multiple threads on subjects that I'd like to read about but the search doesn't seem to pick them out.

Aside from that it's pretty good. I'd love to tweak some of the presentational stuff (for ease of use - mainly for me, I suspect) but that would discomfort those that are happy with the satus quo.

A solid 8/10.

Let me start off by saying that this place is fantabulous(!?).

It gives me most of the answers I need. Rather than unconnected dots, for the first time many of the events of my life and many of the thoughts I have had now make perfect sense. At times, the experience is almost frightening;)

How to proceed from here is a different problem.

As for the site itself:

There is a lot of room to talk about all ADD related issues. I do find a little less room for us to actually be ADD in.
I am referring to the sections on creative endeavors. For those who cannot write a poem or compose music there is not much to do in that respect, apart from abusing the section on other creative endeavors.

I like to think of myself as a philosophically minded person. I come up with ideas.
Most of those ideas are monumentally ridiculous, but they are ideas anyway. Often those ideas are not the kind that are appreciated in NT dominated forums. In such forums you are required to list references and sources to back up your positions.

Now, how am I supposed to do that if do not know any better than that it was my idea in the first place?(that's ADD arrogance for you)

Currently I do not find much room to express myself in that respect. I cannot be the only amateur philosopher on this board.

So I give you only a 9 out of 10.

I would have loved to post using the first choice with my comments, as I love ADD Forums.

The big bug that I have is when I get to the forums, I see some page based upon my username, it shows my PMs and such tidbits, and then it shows some forum posts. I cannot seem to go directly to them, and don't see how to enable this, or even give the posts a different focus.

It would be handy to have my login page be what I wanted to see: my forums, my social groups, blogs I wanted to read, not a predetermined thing that is more or less irrelevant to me.

Also on this page there have been bad links, the biggest for me was getting to the top of the forums.

This is my second home/family, in fact i talk and tell people in this forum stuff i don't even talk to my partner or family about.

I feel safe, understood, appreciated and wanted here.
If ADDF ever went away i would be deeply deeply upset, when your off-line for a while sometimes it's like OMG WTF will i do now.
I hope this forum is here for ever, because as long as you and your lot are here then so am I.

Honestly?

Im already in love. the fact of knowing there are others like me out there ( well, not exactly like me, i wouldnt want to offend you guys) is helping me in my "real" life more than anything ever has....
My own family thinks my DX is a crock and theres no such thing as the ADD monster.
So, this place comforts me, and everyone has been wicked nice.

there's my 2 cents.

Andrew,

I’m not ADD but I think my schizoaffective mood disorder and depression might deal with the same day to day problems of memory, concentration and the general ability to cope with life. I can relate to so many of the posts I read. I guess that’s why I stuck around. I have been on so many boards during my struggle to understand my disorder. As strange as it may sound considering my condition, I have got so much more information, advice and support from this board than I ever got from most of the others. I took some of the suggestions to my doctor and as a result I feel so much better today than I have felt in a long time. I honestly cannot think of anything that would make this board better than it is.

This place has been kind, helpful, and none the less AMAZING>>>
THANK-YOU

I have a question, and too tired right now to search it..
how do you know if someone responded to your thread, without going back to thread? Is there an alert I have turned off?
And how do you know when you get points?
Like I said..been reading all day and too lazy to look!

Under Thread Tools you can subscribe to a thread. When you goto your User CP, it will show you any threads that have been replied to. Under the User CP is also where you will find any comments or reputation points given to you.

Andrew, this site is a blessing. I mean it. Reading other addr post has been refreshing. Living in a non-addr world can be a bit overwelming. I see here a community of folks like myself. Thank you guys/gals for this forum!

I think everyone is so sweet and kind and considerate of each other. I have never been on a board like this before. There have always been some nastiness. I think there are many people here who are so very grateful for the work admin and moderators do to keep it safe and comfortable. Thank you.

You have way too many sub forums and you need to consolidate some of them. Most of the sub forums only have a new thread every few days.

I actually agree with Paper. There are too many sub-forums, and consolidation would be helpful. This place is hard for me to navigate.
