I feel the question is pretty straight forward, does clozaril (clozapine) have antidepressant effects?

(If so, though what means)

no,it doesn't it's a powerful antipsychotic.
usually a "last resort" drug in treatment resistant schizophrenia.

actually i think it does. i dont have readily available info but clozaril is "the" atypical antipsychotic as the previous poster says. with that in mind, antipsychotics are antidepressive, especially for those with mental illnesses that severe. also, he is also right that it is a last resort because its side effects are bigger than the other atypicals (5ht2a and c antagonism would be antidepressive and it would be anxiolytic for its partial agonism at 5ht1a which could lessen depression)

define "anti-depressive" because clozaril is used to control psychosis. I have heard that risperdal has some mood enhancing benefits, but, not enough to be called an antidepressant
