OK, I have been noticing my fuse being shorter than normal, and doing angry things and then realizing just how not-me it was.

I have ot been sure if it was my marriage issues or the Concerta.

But as my wife was driving back from Toronto to Michigan from a bussiness trip, she was talking to a woman (car pool) whose husband was also just diagnosed about 7 months ago and was also put on Concerta.

My wife asked her if her husband was more aggressive, and she said that he had been (very noticebly so), but did not connect it to the prescription.

Now, I am in a pickle, I really do not want to go back to the non-medicated me, but I also do not want to be like this.
And if I go on multiple meds, it will be twice the money per month.

So, I suppose I should check on Adderal, or whichever one is the non-stimulant, or maybe Wellbutrin.
Hey, maybe I will be lucky and a different med will work better.

Or, all of the aggression may be marriage related, or maybe ADD awareness related, or both.

I sure wish I knew for sure, so I could focus on the proper area.

edit: I am on 54mg/day

hi steve,

i've actually noticed the exact *opposite* as to what you're describing!
i've been on concerta (54 mg) for 15 weeks now, and for the first time in my life i *have* a fuse!
:)
i'm not at all as irritated and easily angered as i used to be...

since i take my concerta as three capsules (spelling!;-) of 18 mg, and they're the yellow ones, i guess i should start calling myself "mellow yellow"!
:D

how long have you been on concerta?
(you've probably mentioned it, but i forgot...)

take care!

LOL same for me as Gabriela....

Been on concerta for 2 years..first 18, then 36, then 54, and back to 36.

I have been on Concerta since January. (wow, time flies)

Why are you taking (3) 18s instead of a 54? Are they staggered as to when you take them? Do you need to pay for three prescriptions?

As I was writing the question above, it occurred to me: The agreesiveness is when the Concerta should be wearing off. 6:30PM or later. Hmmm....

ahhhhhh, if it's when it's wearing off, that's probably "normal" for you...sometimes when mine wears off, I get moody, or confused easily. I just remember to look out for it, and when it happens, just ride it out. heh

hi steve,

the reason i take 18 mg x 3 instead of one (1) 54 mg is that i started on 18 mg, then after two weeks upped it to 36 , and now i'm on 54 mg. the pharmacy just had the 18 mg available when i was "upping" to 36, and so my doctor and i decided that in order to not confuse the pharmacy, i'd stick to the 18 mg (i e: we're lazy!;-)...

no, i dont have to pay for three subscriptions - i just get three bottles of concerta (18 mg) instead of one bottle of 54 mg!

the first two months, i *really* felt it when the concerta left my body system - i got louder, irritable and generally more "adhd/add" all of a sudden...

maybe what you're feeling (i e the aggressiveness) is your body's (psyche's?) way of letting you know that it (i e *you*) feel better/calmer/more in control when you're on concerta?

i think that for the first two months, i was so *shocked* by the difference in my body/psyche, and that the reason i got "afraid"/irritable/tired when the concerta wore off, was that i didn't *want* to go back to being so highstrung/sterssed out/adhd/add as i was before i started with concerta...

 :)

Hey steve,

I'm on straterra for 4 months but people have been telling the same thing...i have a shorter fuse, and overall seem a little more hostile.

I also have some stressers that are getting to be a little overwhelming...I'm hopping that is adding to it.
