Hello,

Its funny ever since i've come on this particular UK forum. Is it me or we all have similiar sort of dialouge? Writing style? Like we're too much for most people to handle thought wise, so they just think we're typing all over the place.

Anyways I digress. Reading about the NHS horrified me. I am almost 100% certain I have ADD or ADHD, i'm thinking about Dr Theodore Soutzos in harley street 450 pounds initial + about half for each short follow up.

What i'm worried about greatly is first of all I can't really afford it, so its a kind of gambling, second of all what if I pay all that money let's face it its going to be 450 and a few follow ups, and I don't get an ADD diagnosis or prescription.

I have tried CBT before which has cost me deeply, and it didn't work, though it wasn't with a ADD specialist. I don't want to risk that kind of cash loss again. It was all common sense talk "like it's all in your head" kind of bs, which we all know is only a very partial part of it.

For me I know meds are the only way (dexedrine or adderal)

the NHS route looks pretty bleak, it might as well be a lottery game where you have to gamble years. My GP was pretty doubtful (god complex) but referred me, however they remain very ambigious regarding how long its going to take, apparently they review it case by case. ADD is not judged as anything life threatening etc etc. So it gets put back, thats why people here wait months, then there is the funding problem.

So it be great if anybody has any info or feedback regarding going private, getting diagnose and ending up with prescription? Esp in London area. Opinions or questions are welcome.

Obviously I'm sort of looking for a why to make sure I get diagnosed properly if I go private....because its so damn expensive, its not a mistake I can really afford to make.

Hello - I just got diagnosed in Reading, Berks at Department of Clinical Neuropsychology. I was referred by my doctor ok but the referral was originally going to the Maudsley Clinic in Camberwell South London. The hoops that we may have had to jump through, but then somebody put my GP in contact with the above.
