A psychiatrist, a few months back, put me on Wellbutrin... unfortunately, I lost the prescription sheet... so, I never took it. I am now thinking about going back to the psychiatrist and getting another prescription. However, I first want to know what exactly Wellbutrin helps... does it help with focusing? Does it help with procrastination problems? Does it help with any ADD symptoms? I know it helps depression, but I don't really need to treat my depression with medication...
The Wellbutrin did not really help my ADD symptoms, per se, except I was into organizing things more. It did wonders for my mood, though.
My doc said that because Wellbutrin can have a stimulating effect on some people that it sometimes helps with the ADD symptoms. In her practice she said it has about a 50% success rate.
Wellbutrin has helped tremendously for me with overcoming procrastination and getting started on projects. These were real problems for me......to be honest I don't know if they are part of my ADD symptoms or if Wellbutrin helped me with undiagnosed (but on occasion suspected) depression.
Strattera has helped a lot with focus and controlling impulsivity. But it was the addition of Wellbutrin that really helped me turn things around. especially after the plateau effect kicked in on Strattera (diminished impact after a few months).
Good luck. My one comment is to be prepared to give Wellbutrin a fair trial...it may be 4 weeks or more before you really experience the effects. -Ed

I used to think Wellbutrin wasn't working for either my ADD or my depression, but my wife, and, much to my chagrin, I, (aren't commas fun!) seem to notice a decrease in the procrastination. I was able to read a book that I could never even start before. But I'm still depressed, although maybe not as bad. I've been on it this time for 4 weeks.
I tried Wellbutrin for a few weeks but I felt weird all day and I quit taking it. I don't think I really gave it a chance.
Now that I've been taking ritalin and I am used to it I am thinking about trying Wellbutrin again. It worked wonders for my friend.

I take Wellburtrin and Dexadrine now...Wellb. for depression
At one time I was just on the Wellb. for ADD and the only thing it help with that was keeping me calm. I didn't do any of my usual freak out stuff... :o
For me, it seemed the Wellbutrin took a long time to kick in for me. 4 weeks to really start feeling anything and probably 6 weeks or so to feel the full effect. This drug really requires patience. :)
