i figured, eh, what the hey.. for my first post, i'll tell you the dosages i had growing up..

i'm currently 30 years old, leading a semi-well adapted life (not well enough to avoid needing forums, my wife pointed them out. lol)

growing up, i was darn near a test case of ritalin overdosage.. and i guess i turned out okay, unless you count my sixth finger (joke)...

i was PRESCRIBED 180Mg/day.... yup, no typo. from Kaiser Permanante, no less!
anyone else here have experiences with this kind of ritalin exposure level?

my mom used to shove a pill down my throat the second i started to be just about anything other than utterly relaxed.. yeah, bad, i know...

but just curious if anyone else had ritalin taken/prescribed like this.

Eep! I only take 5 mg of Ridalin three times a day! How the heck do you sleep?!
Do you have any side affects like anxiety?

This is how ritalin got a bad name. Huge dosages used to deaden the hyperactivity aspect of ADHD, but of course at that kind of level it's too much and won't help focus or impulse control at all. Classic "more is always better" approach to medication.
It does illustrate how safe the drug is - you were given maybe 10 times as much as a typical child? Longterm, and it didn't do you any physical harm - it didn't stunt your growth, did it?
I sincerely hope this doesn't happen anymore!

longterm, i have'nt noticed anything, other than the fact it's still there (the ADD).. but i did'nt really start puberty till 17. lol
i made up for lost time, though... *laughs evilly*
