I find that I have a few little annoyances such as....cabinet doors being left open in the kitchen, I HAVE to go through and shut them. I also can't stand when my roommate leaves the dryer door open, I have to shut that too. However, doors to the rooms can be left open. I have to go through the house and shut all the lights before I leave too....but the BIG one is the cabinet doors in the kitchen. Kind of makes me feel like I have some OCD issues with cabinet doors LOL. Anyone else have any annoying little pet peeves?

Oh man...I used to have some really bad ones, not so much anymore, but here's a few that drive me bonkers.

The way my mom used to chew/eat hard candy.
People who wait until they are already turning to put on their turn signal OR don't use it at all....argorama.
In store isles...people who can see you coming and don't move out of the way, and you even have to push past them even when you've said EXCUSE ME.
My hubby's stuble----it HURTS when I kiss him.
Taking a bath and getting/feeling long hairs wrapped around the soap or my hands or whatever body part I am washing.
The caller ID not being cleared after being checked.

I'm sure I'll think of more later. heh

putting the empty cartons back in the frig

I know someone that used to lock and unlock the car door 5 times everytime he got in the car.

When he took something out of the trunk, he would close the trunk lid and tap on the lid 8 times and count under his breath (1,2,3...etc)

I do NOT allow anyone to vacuum at my house. They all stand in the middle of the floor and make a circling motion with the vacuum. I'm a neurotic when it comes to cleaning and vacuuming wrong will get your head bite off far before anything else. You vacuum in straight lines so that the carpet all goes one way...how hard is that?

I'm not easily annoyed as long as you don't try to tell me what to do! GRRRRRRRR!

I'm sure there are some other things but not that I can think of now. Hmmm, I'm impatient when people explain things slowly but I'll just finish it for them rather than let myself get annoyed (which they probably find annoying).

I'm with Jaime on "hubby's stubble"...THAT HURTS!!

I don't like open closet doors, or lights left on.
And, the ppl not using a turn signal.
I'm also a carmex-aholic. I cannot stand my lips to be dry.

Tonight, we ate at a nice restaurant's Grand Opening. Well, the busboy came to our table a half-a-dozen times or more taking plates, etc. He'd ask, "Ya'll aren't going to use this are you??" I was afraid for my fork!

I appreciate attentiveness, but cleaning the table before we even get up is a bit annoying.

OKay, here's one. I don't mind doing the dishes. What REALLY ticks me off though is finding cups, bowls, etc. with leftover FOOD in them. Okay, if you're capable of bringing the damn plate into the kitchen and dumping it into the sink, you're capable of dumping the &*$%#$ FOOD into the garbage can on the way!!!!!!!

Okay, so circumstance and ADD shouldn't result in dishes being put off for a few days, but it STILL wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to scrape moldy mystery food off of every other &^%$^*% dish!!!!

My cat walking in between my legs and nearly tripping me as I walk!

For me, it's when my 2 year old is standing right behind me and I don't know he's there until I turn around and trip on him! He's great at doing that!

Plenty of stuff my young kids do (no explanation needed!)

The way my Mother-In-Law washes the dishes. She uses the sponge on the plastic stick thing and doesn't make sure that all the food is off before sticking it in the dishdrainer to dry (water spots!). MY mom (when she's at our house) washes the dishes good enough but air dries them (water spots) and there's water all over the counter that she doesn't clean up! How she gets so much water there is beyond me! (Ok, to be fair, my husband's peeve for me is the way I let the dishes pile and pile before I do them...or mother-in-law does them) One more for this one! HE doesn't even do any dishes! I (or Mom) could have the sink perfectly clean when we go to bed. When he gets home, he uses dishes and leaves them there. (wait, didn't I just say I let the dishes pile? Uh.....)

I can't stand it when my husband complains about other people. Like if a car is about to turn and decides not to. "Why can't they make up their mind!???" Other examples: "They live here! They should know that road has construction!!" "They're driving with their blinker on!" (he does that sometimes too.) Or he complains they're driving too slow...at the speed limit. I guess I have more patience with people.

That's just a few of my annoyances.

I think it's annoying (to myself) when I have to finish boring movies. I record plenty of movies on Tivo and even when I think they're boring (I have a hard time admitting that to myself even if it's true), I want to know how it ends! Why can't I just delete it? I'm watching Mystery Train right now. Very.....interesting. I can't say I like it but I'm intrigued. Something about a hotel, Elvis (I think the "ghost of Elvis" doesn't necessarily mean an actual ghost), a couple of Japenese tourists (did they just come to the United States just to see Memphis and Elvis sights? I'm still not sure), an Italian widow (that's the part where I'm at) and a British Outlaw. I'm thinking the only thing in common with the characters are the hotel, and the spirit of Elvis. The characters haven't met eachother (will they? Does it matter?) and the movie drags. Lot of walking scenes. So far, the Japanese and the widow walked along the same path with Memphis in the background. Doesn't get into the backgrounds of the characters. Yet I want to finish it. WHY?

Another annoyance to me is the way I explain things too much. Why couldn't I just mention "Not being able to walk away from a movie, no matter how boring" or something like that? But no, I drag things on and on. For example.....this paragraph (just kidding on this one. I definately coulda stopped after the first two sentences)

LOL :D ! That sounds like my husband! I don't think he's ADHD - may have some OCD tendencies, though. I'll be in the middle of emptying the dishwasher, and he'll keep closing the cabinet doors!! Sorry, it seems silly to me to close the doors before I'm done!

He does the same thing with lights. I'm the opposite - I'll leave a light on because I think I'm coming right back, but get distracted and end up somewhere else, and pretty soon lights are on everywhere. So in my case, ADHD has the opposite effect... Oh, I definitely shut everything off before I leave, though. Even so far as to unplug things like heaters and fans.

The only pet peeve I can think of right now is basically any situation where someone is "in my way". Slow or wrong-lane drivers, oblivious shoppers with their cart in the middle of the aisle, stupid drivers in parking lots, stuff like that. I'm always in a hurry, though. Seems like a lot of people aren't....which I don't get. "C'mon man! don't you have somewhere to be?! Move it!!!".

I've seen several threads like this one on this forum. I haven't seen any threads like this on any of the other forums I visit. Sounds like it may be ADHD - especially the impatient kind.

A whole lot of the things listed annoy me.

I hate it when my 10-year old granddaughter is watching tv or a video and the show ends so she gets up and goes off to do something else, leaving the tv on with no one watching it. Especially annoying when it's a DVD and the stupid music at the end just repeats and repeats and repeats endlessly.

Of course I can get up and turn it off myself, but she could also learn to turn it off before walking away, eh? She never turns off lights when she leaves a room either. And she is the worst for leaving drawers and cupboards open and those annoy me too.

One thing that I didn't see mentioned was people using a leaf blower to clean off their sidewalk or driveway after they finish mowing the grass. The sound those things make is really annnoying to me. Why can't they use a broom? http://www.addforums.com/forums/images/icons/icon8.gif

That is annoying. My kids will throw a fit if I shut their show off! Even if they're not watching it. Call it Thomas The Train TV! Can't watch what I want. (I do anyway of course!)

One that REALLY bugs me is when chairs aren't neatly tucked/pushed under a table. This one happens daily in my home. It seems that my wife and kids could care less... they push back and slide out of the chair and just leave it there!
Every time I walk through the dining room I find myself making a circle around the the dining table to push the seats into their "proper" place.

I realize this is really MY issue, so I don't get on anyone out about it. It's small stuff. To an extent this happens everywhere, seats at desks, conference rooms, etc.

Sounds like a lot of people have some OCD tendencies. I've been told that I do - - unfortunately it's no help at all with keeping a clean house. I just thought of a funny Monk-esque thing of mine, though. Whenever I'm watching a movie and there's a fight scene, and they knock over a plant or a piece of furniture (which happens in EVERY fight scene, of course) - it's all I can think about! Somebody fix the plant! I'm itching inside wishing I could reach into the TV to set the plant back up. "Ahem - guys - do you realize you just knocked that table over? Who's going to fix that? C'mon - oh man! Now you broke that chair, too!!". Honestly, I leave the room during fight scenes because I find them just all-around disturbing.

Lots of things annoy me, especially things that interrupt my natural state of reverie, slow me down or break my personally-defined rules of etiquette or protocol. Some examples:

*Being startled – I hate, hate, hate to be startled! People accuse me of being “jumpy” but really I’m just zoned out and don’t hear them coming.
*Erratic, repetitive or loud noises.
*People talking too loud in restaurants; loud children pretty much anywhere.
*Slow drivers and slow walkers, especially if I can’t get around them. Slow checkers, tellers, cashiers. Slow talkers, people who embellish too much.
*Drivers on cell phones!!!
*Pretty much every other shopper in any store; especially where a cart is required.
*People standing, walking or driving too close to me. I also get strangely irritated if another person's/driver’s destination is the same as mine, even if they’re in front of me.
*People who stop elevator doors once they’ve started to close. Major annoyance!
*Cars parked at ridiculous angles/outside marked spaces.
*People who stare.
*People who “drop by” unexpectedly.
*People who butt into conversations, especially when they proceed to change the subject.
*Telemarketers, especially when they call at inappropriate hours. (I’m not sure there is an appropriate hour!)
*People who interrupt phone conversations to scream at their children.
*People who interrupt face-to-face conversations to answer their cell phone.

My weirdest peeve: The word “women” used in place of “woman,” or vice versa. I know it is a very minor error and it would be ridiculous to take it as an indication of sexism, but you never see “men” and “man” reversed – for some reason this just really irks me!

Cabinet doors being left open is a big one of mine, too, though I wouldn’t expect them to be closed while the dishwasher is being unloaded! LOL

I could think of hundreds more, given time. I am just one very peeved person, I guess! :o

What comes to mind that's related to my ADD is someone interrupting anything I'm doing. I'm distracted too easily as it is and its hard to get my focus back so it makes me want to scream when someone does this. SOMEONE is interrupting my typing right this minute and I think they are going to die........excuse me a minute. !^%!$^&%$&^!$%$$

Ok this is random, and doesn't really address your question, sorry, but, have you ever wondered why there are doors on cabinets? I mean if we just keep opening them, why bother having them there?
