i am looking for a clear-cut list of signs that you may be taking too much or not enough.

what has your experience been? how did you know that your dose was correct?

Hard to give a written answer to that - the dosage that feels right?
For me if I take too much I'm much more jittery and bounce from job to job like a bee amoungst a field of flowers - the dosage is counter productive.
I'm not even sure I have the "right" dose - I haven't been at it that long, and I haven't experimented much with larger doses (it was hard enough getting my GP to give me dexedrine in the amount I'm taking now - never mind asking for more!), but 15mg 3 times a day helps me a lot, so I'm sticking to that for the time being!

I have played with variations surrounding 5mg to 20mg a day. I found that 5mg didn't seem to make much impact and 20 produced the symptoms Gregster mentions about the bee in a field of flowers. I was also significantly more anxious. I'm anxious at the best of times so more wasn't what I was looking for.

I'm back to 10mg long acting in the morning at around 8:00am and another 5mg short acting not before 3:30pm. This seems to yield the best results for me.

Thats a hard question to answer. Everyone reacts differently to dexedrine, and for me i just had to use trial and error to find the right dosage. My a.d.d specialist told me to just keep uping the dosage by half a tablet untill i felt that the side effects were to much for me or untill i felt at a comfortable level. It takes time and experiment.
