Ok, so here's the thing. I talked with my mom today, and my brother had a sleep test done last week, and he's been dxed with sleep apnea...BADlike....

They said he stops breathing nearly 100 times in his sleep AND has moments of "extreme stimulation" during his deeper sleep moments. Ok, so....

I started thinking about something that happens to me on occasion...something that happened THIS morning actually...

I went to bed at 4:15 this morning. I was woken up from a dream about a half an hour later (ack I was already that deep into sleep!)

I was dreaming that me and hubby were riding in a car and we had to drive through some water, but the water was too much, and I had my head above the water, but I noticed hubby was under the water, so I had to take a deep breath and dive in for him...and when I came up with him above water...that's when I woke up.

And when I woke up....I actually FELT like I had been holding my breath for a while and then finally let it go.

I am starting to worry that there's something psychosomatic going on when I have such dreams....about 3-5 times a month (that I've noticed, might be more) I'll have a dream so real and vivid and incorporating, that I wake up feeling as though my physical body has actually done something in conjunction with the dream....either holding breath like above, or something....

So, I am wondering what I should do about this. I don't know if this is serious or not. Could this be a form of sleep apnea this morning? But it only happens when I dream, or so I've noticed....

Anyone else out there experience this? I'm bonkers!

Oh, kinda off topic, here, but I've also been reading up on some of the other threads in the sleep area about circadian rhythm disorders. OK, from what I read, I KNOW I have this..and always have (even though not actually diagnosed). Could that be a link with this, too?

I'd really be curious to know what a sleep test would say about me.....

I have very vivid dreams nightly. I usually wake up confused and it takes a couple minutes to realize it was a dream and not reality. My wife tells me I talk in my sleep often. If it happens to be an intense dream I'll wake up seating, trembling, or with whatever I was physically feeling in the dream.

As far as sleep apnea my doc told me to lose weight first and see if it clears up.

I have heard that sleep apnea produces symptoms similar to ADD.

I have two friends who have been DXed, they use Darth Vader-like breathing mechanisms at night, which seem kind of extreme but both of them SWEAR it has dramatically improved their lives!!!

OMG, I have the same thing!I have such vivid dreams that I am unsure for a bit if it was a dream or not.Last night I was having one of those dreams.I was doing the housecleaning.(That should have been a big tip it was a dream, eh?)But this was the weird thing. It wasnt my house, it was a large mansion over in Toronto that I go to every time I visit my friends there. The visiters were still coming through while I was cleaning the house, so I was going nuts telling everyone to be careful while I was cleaning. And it almost seemed they intentionaly did things to mess up the areas I had just cleaned. I wokeup with a start and my arms had that tingling feeling from using a vacuom cleaner. Slightly off-topic but I was DXed with stress-induced sleep apnia when I was in between Highschool and College.
