Here's a wonderful hand out my mom gave me once...thought I'd share it with you fellow Christiandoots. :D Not to mention that others may gain inspiration from this.
I Won't Let You Kill Me! - Acts 26:21, 22
All kinds of families today are marked by murder, including God's family, the church. In fact, you haven't really been killed until you've been killed by a brother or sister in the church! I know some women who've made it through the worst possible life on the streets only to be driven half crazy by saints.
It's time to say to those in your family -- both your natural family and your spiritual family -- "I love you, I'm related to you, I care about you...but I won't let you kill me."
You had better adopt that attitude toward every person in your life -- your husband, your children, your friends, your boss, the people you work with, the members of your church. You need to say to them, "Jesus died for me. That's all the dying that needs to be done. I'm going to hide myself in Him. I won't let you kill me."
I'm not talking about your physical body. I'm talking about your spirit and your soul. I'm talking about resisting peolpe who will attempt murder in your emotions, your attitude, your inner life. They'll try to get you to sin with them, or to give in to your own temptation. They'll say to you, "It's all right. It won't matter if you do it just this once. It's no big deal"
Others might say to you, "Nothing is going to get better. You might as well give up and sit down in your ashes because nothing is every going to change and nothing is ever going to be right in your life."
Those who say such things to you are agents of death, creeping up on you and coming at you in disguise. Don't let them kill you! Stand up to them in the strength of Jesus Christ and say, "I'm not going to let you drive me crazy with your lies and your temptations. I'm not going to let you lead me into sin. I refuse to let you assassinate what God has birthed in me!"
Start praising God for what He has done in you. Celebrate the life He has given you. Declare to God and to every person who speaks death: "My life isn't over. God still has more for me to do and to say and to be. I am loose."
Say no to those drugs, the sinful relationship, that evil desire, thoughts of depression and suicide, etc. Say no to that thing or that person who is trying to lead you straight back to a life if dying instead of living. Don't let youself be killed. LIVE!
