Well I have been told if you have anger, mood, are aggressive tendencies to stay away from Adderall. It supposibly in some people can make this issues/behaviors worse. But that was just what my childs psych said. Also I think it depends on what problems your having as to what antidepressant you get prescibed to you. (What symtoms you have). We use ritalin la and Effexor xr for my daughter.

There really is no right or wrong answer to this question. Everybody reacts differently to medications.

Just for your knowledge, Ritalin blocks the reuptake of dopamine sorta similar to cocaine, but not, and adderall and dex release dopamine. From the research iv been doing, adderall would probably give you a better mood boost. Its def a more social drug where ritalin is more for hitting the books, but adderall for me gives me all that, and some. But not high. I can stay up all night no problem and constanly work and do paperwork. But i would have to take another dose every 5-6 hrs.

Thats the bad part. Tolerance to Psychostimulants, esp adderall, is a big issue. Iv been on 30mg for 3 weeks and im already tolerant. If i stop completely , ill be sleeping for 3 days. And i cant take some half ars ephedrine because that drug causes more peripheral problems like High BP, HRate, Anxiety, and the least ADD help. Caffeine would not tough me, unless i take a few on top of Adderall. But i do have ritalin la 30mg , about 20 of them, so i may just hop on them to hopefully lower my amphetamine tolerance, becasue they are similar but different.

Methylphendate (Ritalin) and amphetamines (Adderall, Dexedrine) have an effect on similar areas of the brain but do it in different ways - check out the thread here for a detailed description of the differences:

Because amphetamines have a greater effect on noradrenaline, I find them more stimulating - but they are more likely to cause aggression, I believe - but it depends very much on the person. What works best for YOU is the best choice. People take either stimulant with antidepressants - there are no issues that I know of in that regard.
