I use methylphenidate myself. I am puzzled as to why there are separate boards for methylin and Ritalin. They are the same thing, i.e. methylphenidate, no? Is splitting the posts for the "name brand" vs. generic version done for a particular reason?

I wondered the same thing myself. I just post in the Ritalin forum since that's where everyone seems to be.

It's because sometimes people think Methylin is a brand, but it isn't.

Actually, it is. Methylin is the brand name of a chewable methylphenidate formulation formerly marketed by Alliant Pharmaceuticals, now owned by Shionogi Pharma.

It is also the brand name of Mallinckrodt's "generic" methylphenidate, which is AB rated to Ritalin, but technically not a generic as it was formulated independently.

That said, I see no need for there being different drug forums for the two, both are oral methylphenidate tablets. I can vaguely see the reasoning behind a separate Concerta forum, but I think all the drugs should be grouped by active ingredient.
