I didn't know that I had ADD for a long time. I'm in high school now but I had been having problems in school (i.e. turning stuff in, paying attention, getting organized) since 6th grade. Finally, my mom got real frusterated at me and went online to find parent support groups. She typed my symptoms into a search engine and came up with ADD. I went to a phychiatist just a few days ago and she confirmed what my parents and I suspected.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me, cause I'm feeling a little lost and confused.

do you get counseling from the psychatrist or a therapist or help from a school guidance counselor?????

Yeah. But I've only seen her twice. I start taking meds tomarrow. Are they as bad as I've heard? I guess I'll find out soon!

i think counseling is good for you even if you only have done two sessions

i am not on meds so i don't know about those but i know every meds as its own side effects and some people get them and some others don't so it depends on the person

its hard, i know. alot of people don't really believe ADD exists and it makes it harder when dealing with some people, but hang in there. meds really help.

sorry dew didnt see you there....i just got on this website againhere today. i have adhd and its really hard because i get hyper i myself havent got myself oraganised and i blow off homework and lie to mom so i could chat or go play http://www.runescape.com. i want to play this and i want to chat but i have homework and it stays on my mind alot i get real guilty about it. i cant seem to concentrate either and ya know its hard to concntrate when your friend is siting there just gibbergabbering. so i know how you feel. well i gtg.

i really have nothing to do after school so i get all my homework done right away. and the other reason i probably do my homework is because wen i get my report card, for every A i get $10, and for every B i get $5 so yea. Bye
