ADAP is a statewide protection and advocacy system serving eligible individuals with disabilities in Alabama. Its services include the following programs: PADD (Protection and Advocacy for Persons with Developmental Disabilities)- provides protection and advocacy for persons with developmental disabilities. They also provide education, community services, civil rights investigations, networking and training for those persons who qualify. PAIMI (Protection and Advocacy for Individuals with Mental Illness)- provides advocacy services for persons who have serious mental illness and reside in a 24-hour treatment facility, or have a complaint regarding a problem which occurs within 90 days of discharge from a treatment facility. PAIR (Protection and Advocacy for Individual Rights)- provide protection and advocacy services to persons with severe disabilities who are not eligible for existing protection and advocacy programs. PATT (Protection & Advocacy for Assistive Technology)- assists individuals with disabilities and their family members, guardians, advocates and authorized representatives in accessing technology devices and assistive technology services. This is accomplished through case management, legal representation and self-advocacy training.
