View Full Version : Teens with ADD / ADHD starting the new school year Tara 08-17-04, 02:22 PM How are the teen members feeling about starting the new school year? sam 08-18-04, 06:33 AM Im still waiting to see if there's going to be a next school year for me lol.. :/ ADDitives 02-17-05, 06:16 AM i saw the equity officer the other day to see if i can have special exam conditions. she said with documentation from a doctor to say that i have adhd, that yes, i certainly can. i can have 10 mins extra working time per hour, and 5 mins extra read-only time. and i get a separate room. so now i have to find a doctor who can help me. Kasparov 02-17-05, 06:25 PM Thats really good. Personally I'm just gonna try and break my steadly declining gpa and get back on the up direction. thrillofitall 03-22-05, 12:32 AM Well I'm doing all correspondence, no more classrooms (thank God) and then I am doing a co-op placement next year. I'm finally close to graduating after a 6 year stay in highschool, in what should have been a 4 year program. It's not that I am stupid or anything, I skipped grades early in school. Just well not only ADHD, but life situations have made passing courses incredibily difficult. Fidge 10-26-05, 10:24 PM each september that comes i say to myself, i am gonna be more organised and blah bah blah, but it never happens i just get worst as the years go by, now i am in univeristy but its okay now, although i am as disorganised as ever, i am doing video production its a mainly practical course, so not many essays or exams. and i am doing something that i like. but school is still hard, like in lectures and stuff, i am gonna shut up now! acKro 02-17-06, 06:32 PM I was always tell myself im gonna be more organzied and diligent, whatever that means, but ,yea , havent really gotten around to it yet. livinginchaos 02-17-06, 09:49 PM I know how that goes!!! neroballerino 02-25-06, 04:03 PM Each year i too say that I am going to be more organized. And that actually isn't my problem. I have no problem getting organized. I'm actually relatively neat. My biggest frustration is in the classroom. The whole learning. I test terribly. I always do my homework with music and then I get in the classroom and all i hear are pencils clicking. Drives me crazy! I can't organize my thoughts b/c I can hear them. Is that weird? When I was in elementary school I wasn't tought how to cope with ADD or that it even was possible. I was sent to a doctor to get diagnosed and I've been on ritilan ever since, and i'm a sophmore in college now. Are any of you on medication? How does that effect you in school? In your social life?? |
