My son was diagnosed by a psychiatrist when he was about 24 or 25 when he was the director of photograpy in a movie and started telling everyone what to do and that his way was the only way and insisted that they all had to go to WashingtonDC and talk to the President. He had been away from home own his own for a pretty good while but the the writer/director called us to come get him(a good 6 or 7 hours away.) They had had to take him to the emergency room. We had known he had ADD but had no idea he was Bi-Polar. I think the stress of staying up all night and they only had about 10 days to film it started the symptoms. I don't don't know exactly how they come up with the diagnosis but I guess the pretty extreme behavior and the meds really helped. He said he never wanted to go though that again.
