I don't get it

Posted 02-05-08 at 01:25 AM by busyhermit
Ok, I'm one of those old people who doesn't even get the point of "texting". So what's blogging all about? Is there any difference between that and a journal?

Well, in a blog you can write about whatever you want, not just what you did today. You can just write about something you dislike or something you like and we can comment about it.

    Man, Do I hear ya.

I ran across this site months ago and couldn't figure it out how to get into anything, so I walked away. Today I get an email from them and I give it another shot. I 'm glad that I'm successful this time. I don't know how much it's going to help me now, but, I'll have a month or so before I get evicted, if I can't get a job soon. I've been out of work for nine months and used up all of my savings. I keep my head up, just taking it day by day.

I hope that your doing better than I am , and sorry for the downer for my comment.

    Good luck and God Bless.

Ronald, I was on this forum in 2005, they say. Got an email today saying it had new stuff and was better... I cannot figure it out either... About getting evicted, look in your phone book for groups who help in an emergency, ie crisis intervention... Hang in there !!! kiwizee

To quote the entry on Wikipedia about blogging:

    Quote:
A blog (a portmanteau of web log) is a website where entries are commonly displayed in reverse chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art (artlog), photographs (photoblog), sketchblog, videos (vlog), music (MP3 blog), audio (podcasting) are part of a wider network of social media. Micro-blogging is another type of blogging which consists of blogs with very short posts.

Around these parts, I would expect most blogs will probably end up talking about people's lives in relation to ADHD.

As for the texting.... I'm young and I don't get that either. Why on god's green earth would I want to pay the wireless companies more money to do something that should come with every plan because it takes up less bandwidth than a phone call?

Blogging is like journaling except if you so desire people can comment - seeing you asked a question then I would venture to guess you did want responses -

Some people do quit well and acquire a lot of regular readers. I mostly use my present off site blog accounts to store researched information in an on-line accessible manner

Today I discovered there is such a thing as blog settings here where you can determine if you want responses to your blog entries and whom may respond.

I think there is even a setting for those who do not want their entries viewable to other members.

I find texting of some use - like I can text my daughter a brief message while she is at work and she can read it instead of having to access her messages - but I do not text much.

blogging is an on line journal. People can comment on what you have written. You can also design your own page like the one on 360... but I hear they are closing down or something like that... since I have a yahoo 360 blog myself.

Blogs are like online journal that others read and comment on. A difference is journals are private and usually kept to yourself and thus tend to be more personnal and more about emotions. Blogs are designed to be read by others and are written for an audience. Also people can make an inifite number of blogs each for different subjects.
