I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult and only recently started taking vyvanse 20mg about a month and a half ago. I absolutely loved it and it seemed to make every single difficulty Iíve had with accomplishing tasks and socializing go away - it was like putting on glasses for the first time.

About a year ago I also found out I had several very quickly growing nodules on my thyroid. My hormones were tested many times over time and they were normal, but my endocrinologist decided surgery was necessary because the nodules were suspicious.

After some issues with insurance I was finally able to have my surgery 2 weeks ago. I wasnít put on thyroid hormones immediately so I quickly started to have horrible hypothyroid symptoms. The noteable things were not being able to stay awake for more than an hour a day, depression, and a HUGE increase in my ADHD symtoms compared to before I started vyvanse (during this time I ran out of my vyvanse so I wasnít taking it for about a week).

I was put on levothyroxine (88 mcg) and got a refil for vyvanse 20 mg in the same day. Iím aware that levothyroxine will take some time to make me feel better but it seems like my vyvanse is barely working at all. I was wondering if anyone knew if this is due to my hypothyroidism or if maybe I just need a higher dose of vyvanse? Any experience and advice with these two drugs or tolerance to vyvanse would be greatly appreciated!!!

Side note: Iím also a little worried about weight gain without a thyroid, which I know levothyroxine should hopefully fix but Iíve heard it still happens. I know I shouldnít be worried about my weight, but will my lack of appetite with vyvanse affect the levothyroxine or help/hurt my metabolism? ]]>

Starting Vyvanse... http://www.addforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=193953&goto=newpost Sun, 18 Nov 2018 15:05:08 GMT I haven't posted in awhile, I've been busy having a nervous breakdown :)

But I'm doing well again thanks to quitting my job and getting my medical house in order...anyhoo

I switched psychiatrists about 5 months ago. My old psychiatrist sort of, I guess, seemed to be losing it? I'm not sure if this has happened to anyone else but all of the sudden he couldn't handle me in 'crisis mode'....anyway, it ended up being a blessing. But I needed a new psychiatrist urgently and I have a dear friend who is a recovering drug addict. She recommended her psychiatrist. I wasn't sure if it would be a good fit since I'm not addicted to anything but it was the best find ever. He is an expert in brain chemistry and really seems to have me on the right track.

I've been taking Adderall IR 20mg 3x daily for a few years. Adderall was life changing for me, mostly because I was misdiagnosed with an anxiety order for most of my life.

My new psychiatrist, being an addiction specialist, wanted me off the Adderall IR and wanted to switch me to Vyvanse. I didn't think there was any reason to do that but as I have gotten my medications all sorted out, I liked the idea of one pill. Because as I am getting better, who wants to think about how much to take and when each day? (with Adderall, depending on the day, sometimes I would take 2 pills, other times 3)

Okay so, Vyvanse. I've only been on it a few days (40 mg) but I see the benefit. It definitely takes a few hours to fully take effect which I do not like. Especially coming from the Adderall IR world. That being said, for me it lasts all day and that is fabulous. I even have enough cognitive energy to do all the dishes at night instead of leaving them to the morning.

I'm also now on Guanfacine ER 2mg. I tried Intuniv a few years ago and had problems with it. But dare I say the generic Intuniv formulation is an improvement over the brand?

I would say right now for me the only drawback with Vyvanse is I wish I could take some kind of IR in the morning. They should make it with a little pouch of instant release something that can only be accessed after you swallow it so that the morning isn't so draggy. I can see how it wouldn't be enough of a benefit for some people.

So my review is: so far so good. ]]>
