Handling someone's opinion

How do you explain to your child the place someone else's opinion has in their life? How much value should someone place on the opinion of someone else? Does it take precedent over your child's own opinion? Does it not?

How do you explain to your child so they don't consume themselves with thoughts of over others or forsake their own?

I don't think anybodies opinion should ever take precedence over another persons opinion. We're all entitled to believe what we want to believe, regardless of our age.

It's about teaching them to respect other peoples opinions, while still being able to value their own.

There is a prayer that comes to mind:

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,

Courage to change the things I can,

And wisdom to know the difference.

You can't please everyone all the time. If you try you will please NO ONE!
