ADDF Sexual Harassment Policy & Awareness

Sexual harassment is a real problem that can negatively impact our daily lives at work, at home, and even online. Sexual harassment includes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other conduct of a sexual nature that affects an individual's comfort or participation at ADDF.

Sexual harassment can be committed by either gender, women as well as men can be affected. Also, the victim does not have to be of the opposite sex of the harasser, same sex harassment is still covered under guidelines.

We at ADDF take sexual harassment very seriously. We rely on our membership to help maintain our mission as a support forum.

If you receive communication of a sexual nature or come across inappropriate content, there are steps you can take to protect yourself.

3) Report any offending post, blog, or profile message using the forum reporting system. (To report, click the http://www.addforums.com/forums/imag...ons/report.gif button at the top of the post or the "Report" link underneath the message.)

4) If you receive any retaliation or continued contact from the member, report and forward each instance to staff for handling.

To help maintain our support environment we rely on members to abide by our guidelines. As a part of our guidelines, members will conduct themselves under the code of forum etiquette. Members will not engage in a sexually-suggestive manner, use sexually-charged sarcasm, or use sexual terminology in a humorous or joking way. Members who participate in such a manner will receive formal action. These guidelines apply to posts on the main forum and in private forums, to visitor messages on profiles or blogs, and to private messages or e-mails sent via ADDF.

We understand that members may be unsure if they are crossing the line or may need help determining appropriate boundaries. The following tips can help you avoid being the harasser:

  • Don't comment on how sexually attractive (or unattractive) people are, and don't stereotype based on sex, gender, or sexual orientation.
  • Don't use sex- or gender-related terms in an insulting way, and don't use "gay" as an insult.
  • Don't share sexually-provocative photos of yourself or others.
  • Don't discuss your sexual fantasies or ask others to share theirs.
  • Don't spread rumors, and don't publicly shame people.
  • If someone asks you to stop doing something that's bothering them, stop immediately. It doesn't matter if it's someone you're dating or someone you don't know -- if they say "stop," stop.
  • Watch for signals. If someone seems uncomfortable or afraid when you're trying to start a conversation, or they repeatedly ignore you, stop.

Each member will be held responsible for their actions and participation at the Forums. When participating, please be aware of all ADDF guidelines. All reported violations will be reviewed by ADDF Admin who may issue warnings, infractions, or banishment based on violation.
