Adderall IR And Increased Heart Rate

Has anyone experienced sinus tachycardia, which is a heart rate above 100 while taking Adderall IR.

I can tell you that I have, and it is profoundly concerning to me

No, I have not. I'm 61 so any doc but my provider is always feverishly ready to 'lay it on me' but I'm pretty boring as a sampler.

Have any idea what caused or contributed to it? How long did it last and how frequently? Anything stand out in your mind like a recent dose change, caffeine intake or increased stress when it occurred or occurs?

I’ve had some mild heart palpitations on higher doses but only when it was wearing off. I’ve never experienced a tachycardia while on adderall. I was once hospitalized for a major cardiac arrhythmia and tachycardia which was caused by extreme stress and anxiety before beginning adderall though.

My resting heart rate was over 200 bpm and totally out of any sort of rhythm. I got scared when it alarmed the ER staff once they hooked me up to an EKG. It was definitely no fun.

The worst part was it occurred on the 89th day of my employment. My health insurance kicked in after 90 days. Medical bills for over 20k almost gave me a heart attack!

There are no other “differentials” that I can determine.

I take 40mg of Adderall IR

When I was at the doctors last, my resting heart rate was: 121

How often does this occur? Do you take 40mg in one dose or is that for two? The most commonly reported adverse cardiovascular effects of stimulants are elevated blood pressure and heart rate. What did your Dr. say about your elevated resting heart rate?

Perhaps a med. like Dextroamphetamine may help. It appears the levoamphetamine in Adderall can cause more cardiovascular effects. It does with me at least. I had no heart palpitations after switching to Dex.
