Need input on putting my child in dual language program.
My 2nd grade son, who was diagnosed in 1st grade with ADD-I, just informed me that he wants to go to the dual language program next year. This will mean changing schools starting in the 3rd grade.
For 3rd grade students the program works as follows: Reading and writing is taught in both languages, math is taught in English and science and social studies are taught in Spanish. One teacher is a native or nearly native Spanish speaker. The Spanish speaking teacher teams with an Englis-speaking teacher. The students are mixed within the classroom. The students are partnered in what is called bilingual pairs.
I will be carefully considering this over the next couple months until the decision needs to be made, and will speak to my sons pediatrician about it as well, but I am interested in any experiences anybody out there might already have with this situation.

Does he receive services at his current school?
It might worth your time to consult the teachers and/or special education staff at the dual language school and get their feedback. They see the students who transition easily and those that aren't successful. It gives them great insight into who is more likely to succeed, though everyone can be wrong. You can't measure the spirit or heart of a child on a mission!
