Will the real Wall-o-Text please stand up?

I see people mistakenly saying that a long post is a wall-o-text,
but if it's broken into readable paragraphs with blank lines between,
and with capitalization and punctuation, that is not a wall-o-text.

Just trying to clear up any confusion.

Somebody posts to a forum with a very long post that doesn't use any punctuation or
paragraph seperators possibly with bad spelling and lack of coherancy to the point it
feels as if you are getting lost in sea of letters stepping back you just see a huge
block of text on your screen if it moved you'd think matrix but since it doesn't its
just a wall and you refuse to read it citing wall of text or W.O.T.

This is one of the most annoying things on message boards. Some guy wants to bring up a topic and writes an extremely long post, but they decide that they aren’t going to write paragraphs, but instead a Wall O’ Text. Nobody will read a Wall O’ Text. It is difficult to read and puts a major strain on the eyes. Whoever wrote that long blob of words just completely wasted their time.

The next post immediately following it should include only the words: “Wall O’ Text”

This is actually addressed in the forum guideslines. I know, we are often
too impatient to read those guidelines. Here's what it says:

* Please try to break your posts down into small sections or paragraphs when you have long posts. Huge paragraph-like posts can be very overwhelming to a person with AD/HD.

brick brick brick br
ck brick brick brick
brick brick brick br
ck brick brick brick
brick brick brick br

Sorry, there goes my tendency to interpret what people say in an absurd fashion.

Sorry, I don't follow. Are you referring to wall-o-text posts or to my posting this thread?

I think that was their way of "building" a wall of text (using the word "brick")?

I don't see how it is such a big deal. The meaning of words change over time. It used to be referred to as 'word salad.'

I'll just call it what I usually utter when I see it..Ughh not reading that. UNRT.

That's not what I thought word salad is. Isn't that a jumble of words that don't make any sense?

A wall-o-text generally does make sense once someone adds some paragraph breaks.

A bunch of words with the same meaning. How boring.

I'm in a bored argue-with-everyone type of mood today. You have been warned.

Clearly you are feeling argumentative.

Hope you can find some other way to work out your frustrations or stimulate your brain. :)

Yeah, I wasn't really making a point about anything. I just felt the need to represent what sprang into my mind when I read the words "wall of text." :)

Haha yeah, I would have argued about anything no matter how little sense I was making. And I'm usually confused why people get p***ed off with me when I'm in a fun hyper state. Then I could no longer sit at my computer desk because I just needed to move. And being in the inner west of the city, on a cold cloudy day stuck in a boxy little room - it's torture. So I brought things that moved and made sounds and other things I had to build up.

But now I'm good.
