Singing nonsense songs incessantly?

(This is actually pker014, sylvie's husband, long story)

Whenever I'm doing something relatively menial around the house (doing the dishes, tidying anything like that), I find myself singing. Like I just make up random songs about whatever I'm looking at or thinking about. They tend to be fairly incoherent and occasionally funny. But it does tend to get a little annoying, not just to Sylvie but even to ME. Yet I keep doing it. That's right, I annoy myself with my own singing but keep doing it.

Does anyone else get anything like this? I'm thinking it might be an H thing (though I haven't been diagnosed and suspect I'm PI, not combined) but am not sure, and thought I'd see if anybody else has any similar habits.

I don't go so far as to make up songs ...but I seem to catch myself sort of chanting ? ....1 word, or 4 different ones and they usualy have to do with what I am doing .....like going over ot change the CD ......change, change change ....but on different notes.....not monotone .....

There is a song in my head at all times! Even when I wake up in the morning. Right now I'm singing King Tut. Why? I have no freakin idea!

Re: Singing nonsense songs incessantly?

I could fill a whole damn play script with the various songs I've made up in the kitchen, usually when feeding the cats to drown out their annoying meows.

My sister used to change the words of songs and replace it with the boy she was crushing on at the time. One song just went like this: Chris Chris Chris Chris, Chris Chris Chris Chris.
But to the tune of the song.

I'd do the same thing but only change a few words. Now when I make up my own songs I sing them to a familiar tune. But the nonsense songs have no such tune. Actually once when I was in the shower it turned into this whole marching band song, whatever it was about.

I'm always singing! If I'm not talking, I'm singing. I don't really stop making noise. I even talk and sing in my sleep, I've had several people tell me that. I sing myself to sleep at night, it's always been a self-soothing thing for me. Some people suck their thumb, I've always sang to myself until I fell asleep. I guess that just continues on while I'm asleep. Felt really bad for a guy I was dating for a while, he was a really light sleeper and I kept waking him up at night with all the noise. Oh well.

Some people just have the music, and like to sing, even if it's about nothing. I was a nanny for 3 years and I got into the habit of narrating my life because it's good for neural/language development, and even though I'm not taking care of small children anymore, I still have a tendency to narrate, usually to my dog. I'm surprised nobody has choked me to death, as much noise as I make.

Bathroom and kitchen for me. Maybe it has something to do with tiled floors or running water?

I think I just do it to keep me focused.

When I was living with my mother she and her boyfriend had to put up with my early mornings. I wouldn't feel awake so to help me wake every light in the house went on, as did Itunes, as did my motor drive (me moving around everywhere loudly) and then came the singing and having short conversations with the animals.

Eventually, I would feel more awake and taking this to mean my method was working I repeated it the next day. Living in a house with three other people means I now have to turn this down a notch.

Hehe, yeah I do it in the bathroom too, though the bathroom is more for pulling ridiculous faces at myself in the mirror.

I just stare at myself for hours looking at how awesome and hot my hair looks that day.

Oh god, that reminds me. I really *need* to shave. I've grown a full beard unintentionally.

(probably goes without saying that this is Sylvie's husband, pker014)

EDIT: Oh noes, it's way too late in the evening to shave. The noise of the clippers will wake up my son. And I have to leave early tomorrow! I'm going to look like a mega-hobo tomorrow at work!
