Hello and some questions if you don't mind
 

Hi Everybody, I'm new here I was recently diagnosed (2 months ago) with ADD. I just have some questions because I'm still learning how the medications effect me so I'm just trying to make sure I definitely have ADD. So let me ask/tell some things about myself. I'm in college and I'm struggling pretty badly at the moment.

1) Always been a day dreamer
2) Tend to lose track of things
3) Takes me longer to figure difficult problems out and it's definitely not because I'm just not bright, during my childhood I was always considered the smart one, but I enjoyed taking tests and learning and being creative.
4) Typical ADD symptom - very easy to distract. racing thoughts
5) I have to be /exhausted/ to sleep, otherwise, number 4 keeps me up.
6) Consistently anxious, even without reason
7) Related to 6 - I have an uncontrollable nervous tremor that sometimes interferes with my work
8) Have always had god awful hand writing and "fine motor skills"

There is more stuff like that but I really don't want to waste anybody's time

Now to the medication:

I started two months ago on Methylphenidate two 10mg tablets one when I wake up, the other 4-5 hours later, but not after two. This medication calmed me down to depressed like levels, I didn't want to do anything. It did have an effect of making things more.. clear so to say, I don't know how to describe this feeling. Two weeks in, I found it no longer working the way it was before. Called my doctor and he told me to try upping the does to 15mg each time. This made the lethargy worse and the concentration MUCH better.

On my follow up visit, he asked how I was doing and then recommended a switch to 10-15 mg of Adderall. I've been on that for awhile now, 10mg mostly calms me down and lifts that mental fog feeling I was talking about. 15 does that and makes me able to concentrate pretty well, and actually makes me hyper and /INCREDIBLY/ focused on the second dose for about 20 minutes(after I feel it kick in, not after taking it).

So my questions to you after reading all this are:

1. Does is it sound like I'm dealing with ADD/ADHD?
2. Are the symptoms I listed typical of one with ADD?
3. Are my reactions to the medications typical(I know everybody is different)
4. Mental fog, anybody else have this?
5. The Hyperactivity on my second dose of Adderall, is it normal?

1) Sounds like me. ADD? I don't know. The more I learn about it the less I know about it.
2) Yes, that's what they say.
3) Don't know about methylphen-whatever it is. Adderall, yes, for me.
4) Yes.
5) I don't have the hyperactivity.

Sounds to me like add and the meds help. Trust your doctor if youve been diagnosed.

Thanks, only reason I question it is all he did was give me the meds and tell me I most likely had it and to let him know what it did to me.
