There is no scale that I'm aware of other than impairment and that is very subjective. Some people don't have good hygiene because they forget and others can work and some can't read the computer screen well. Some other people can't drive safely get arrested or have problems at work. Alp are impairments for the individual and each is just as important as the next person.

It definitely leans towards the "spectrum" side of things for symptoms. While some "archetypes" of ADHD seem to pop up a lot, you will find a diverse group of people here as well with a wide range of symptoms.

I have a mild form in that I just space conversations, can't sit still, and can't really drive for more than 15 minutes without spacing out. But it hasn't killed my work, I still work well under pressure. But I would like to be able to work during "down time" so I'm not always "stress focusing" and hyper focusing last minute and coming home exhausted and barely keeping up with my workload.

I know that if I had kids though, **** would hit the fan. My hubby is understanding of me spacing him out, but my kids won't be. There's bigger consequences for forgetting to feed my kids than there is my pets.

So I'm getting it taken care of now so that in a few years I can raise a functional (and probably quirky family) without having a meltdown.

When it comes to managing money, investing, finding deals, etc. I seems to have "Godly" powers at keeping my attention. I give myself an "A" for my attention towards this.

When it comes to doing work related to math and computing (i.e. programming), I also have a fairly easy time keeping my attention. I give myself a "B+" for my attention here.

When it comes to dealing with people, I have a hard time focusing on the same person. Unless the person is fairly interesting or is someone I've known for a while, I have a hard time keeping a conversation for more than a few minutes. I have no problem meeting and casually talking with LOTS of strangers but I have a difficult time focusing my attention on fewer people. I give myself a "C-" for my attention here.

When it comes to doing anything where I work with my hands, I'm utterly abysmal at keeping my attention. This includes but is not limited to: housework, auto maintenance, cooking, assembling furniture, carrying heaving things. I give myself a "F" for my attention here.

Yes there is.

Quote:

From Barkley functional impairment scale a series of questions for adult adhd.

In an effort to replicate the OII approach to defining impairment used in the Milwaukee study, we also computed an investigator-determined OII from these adult data. We did so by the summation of the following 18 specific measures of outcomes. Again where the measures were initially dimensional in nature,we chose as the demarcation for impairment on that measure a score that was at least +1.5 SD s above the mean for the community control group (percentiles ranged from 92 to 99%) and where an obvious break-point occurred in the distribution. The specific domains were all determined from self-reported information in this case. The domains (and cut-points) were:

(1) ever retained in grade in school;
(2) failed to graduate high school;
(3) ever receivedspecial education;

(4) fired from a job (2 or more times);
(5) unemployed at least a month or more (3+ times);
(6) quality of work below average or worse;

(7) driver's license suspended or revoked (2+);
(8) excessive car crashes (7+);
(9) excessive speeding citations (9+);
(10) ever ticketed for driving while intoxicated;
(11) excessive arrest rate (2 or more);
(12) ever sent to jail for any crime;

(13) ever divorced;

(14) ever treated for alcoholism;
(15) ever treated for drug abuse;
(16) have trouble managing money;
(17) ever gone bankrupt; and

(18) have a poor credit rating.
