salvaging unproductive days

I've had a few days this week where I really struggled to get stuff done even though I had plenty of sleep. This is a really bad time for me to waste a day also! So much to do! What does everyone use to get through these days? I think maybe that would be the time to try therapuetic nicotine (?). The stuff I have been needing to do this week is mental work and scientific writing.

faller I've got the same problem. I've got more work than i possibly could finish in the remaining time but still i waste days doing absolutely nothing while just getting more and more anxious.

I guess the usual organisational methods help: dividing your work into smaller tasks, setting yourself deadlines, having a plan that includes plenty of breaks to recharge your batteries. It might just make the writing feel less overwhelming and allow you to get started.

Another thing that help me when I'm absolutely too brain dead to do any writing or mental work is to finish some of the side tasks, tasks that are necessary but less demanding cognitively. Things like formatting your document or sorting out references. Or something unrelated like house hold chores though they tire me out as well.

And try to do every day at least a little bit of work just so you don't feel like crap when you are going to bed. Most importantly don't beat yourself up however little you've done.Good luck. Hope both of us have a more productive week from now on.

At my busiest, always this time of year, I go mental with procrastination/avoidance/ jedi mind tricks, skirting the edge of productivity. When it needs to flow though, it does. My process is painstaking and the last minute cram is a drag, but the result is always good enough.

I want to be like them that can take easier routes to the goal but I'm not. I'm me and I've had to work hard on that. Just think that we need a bit more time to gestate the goodness. Don't underestimate how much this is just a part of the way you work stuff out. Listen to the warning signs though of when you might be pushing the envelope of procrastination!

Tidy your desk first (whatever it might be), make a list and have a cup of tea. Plenty of time for the rest of that s#*t tomorrow.
