Couldn't read the article. While I mostly feel that people with autism/ADHD/etc. diangoses should get evaluated for known causes such as brain injury, I also know there are false positives and mostly false negatives on EEG (where someone does have a seizure disorder/brain injury but no abnormal EEG is found), so shoudl every person with autism also be tried on anticonvulsants then? I think not. I think just htat the possibility of underlying brain pathology/EEG abnormalities should be taken into account.

An EEG might not be as accurate in detecting these problems as we could hope, but

according to this article, qEEG seems to be more reliable in diagnosing ADHD than

other means of diagnosis, such as the Connor's evaluation.

I don't know much about anti-convulsant meds, but I don't know that I'd find them

any scarier than anti-psychotic meds like Risperidone which we've used to treat

my Autistic granddaughter.

Anticonvulsants aren't as bad as antipsychotics, long-term side effect wise. They still tend to suck to be on though.

Thanks, but that article refers to SPECT imaging while the video and article I linked to

is about qEEG tests. They are different, yes? Isn't qEEG less invasive in terms of emissions?


Also, the article you shared says that there may be a future in these tests for diagnosis,

but we're not there YET. The doctor in the Ted Talk video is doing hands on testing of qEEG

which may lead to significant research and perhaps reduce mis-diagnosis.

As I understand the subject, basically the qEEG is a form of EEG or electroencephalography (EEG). I have heard that the qEEG has shown some good results in diagnosing ADHD and it has the potential to perhaps become a valid diagnostic tool but it is not there yet.

Just throwing some information into the pile.

Thank you. That's what I understood from the video and the article.

The doctor in the video is testing to see if the qEEG has good potential.

I do hope someone will do some research into the possibilities.

CNS Response seems to have some success with Referenced-EEG. There are some videos there and I'm hoping somebody here has tried it and can give feedback.

I had a QEeg. Nurse was not qualified to diagnise but pointed out my tick snd my inattentiin plus other stuff

Used conners to get diagnosed
