It's gonna be all over this news tonight (Aust.)
Students doing their HSC are illegal taking ADHD meds.
http://www.smh.com.au/national/healt...013-27jnr.html It's been said and done before but it gives me a good platform for telling people what ADHD is really about. All the naysayers are blaming to pressure parents and teachers put on students, which they probably do, but still kids be breaking the law. Anyway, they're not naysaying ADHD anymore. I had to tell one student it was illegal, even if someone with a prescription of an ADHD med gave or sold their medication. Selling drugs is illegal, even if it's a prescribed one. That student thought it wasn't. |

I think they gave up on the ADHD bashing a while ago. Australia is too small a country for everyone to not know someone with a genuine case of ADHD.
What I have told my kids right from the start was that if they gave their medication to someone and they died as a result then they would be responsible for their death. Yes it's dramatic but this is a serious issue. Now they're old enough to understand what's legal and what's not. |

I saw this on the TV as an article on 'The Project'. For those not in Australia 'The Project' is about as mainstream as you're gonna get in terms of the media.
They weren't bashing ADHD. Dr Andrew was on the panel and said that they might be looking to drug test people before sitting university entry exams much like they do in sport. They're blaming the drug cheaters rather than the people with ADHD. Now we need to get the rest of the world's media to take on this perspective. |
