A little problem throws me completely

So I was vaccuming (miracle) and had to change the bag. Well I changed it but couldnīt close the vaccum properly.

I tried for about 20 minutes, felt like crying. Looked on the internet and couldnīt find anything relating to this.

Tried again for another 20 minutes, tried to slam it shut but didnīt want to break it as it is new. I have broken things before like this, I mean I know slamming is not going to fix it but I still do it.

Left vaccum in the middle of the floor and started on something else. Itīs worrying me, feel overwhelmed by another problem that I donīt know how to fix. I bought it online so taking it back is a problem.

Cut to the end, it was the way I put the bag in that prevented it from closing. So all ok now.

Thing is I felt overwhelmed by a stupid little problem and now I feel absurdly pleased that itīs fixed, like a weight has been lifted from me.

Does anybody else feel like this, that they canīt cope with the slightest spanner in the works.

Yes. A lot. For me it means that something else is wrong.

Don't feel that something is wrong with you... It is human to be frustrated like this from time to time. Once you think something goes together a certain way, it's very difficult to step back and find a different approach. I've lost count of how many times I needed someone else to take a look at a problem where I couldn't find a solution. On the other hand, there have been just as many times where I was the one solving the problem. **** happens.

I hate being cold and I couldnīt sleep for worrying, totally pathetic.

Yes I have broken so many things is anger.

Drewbacca, itīs not that I get frustrated from time to time is every time something happens I feel overwhelmed.

Normal things that arenīt even a problem. Me and the kids have a busy timetable but I know what weīre doing every day, but add one more thing and I crack. Even my daughter will say on the way to swimming, "mum can we give a ride to my friend". Her friend lives on route, and itīs literally 3 min detour, no big deal. But it throws me and I end up shouting "why didnīt you tell me before" blah blah.

I hate asking for help as well.

I'm very independent... I HATE asking for help.

That overwhelmed feeling is treatable, however, but requires you to change how you approach things at times.

But, I get it. I'm often overwhelmed too. It's always easier to give advice than it is to follow your own. :p

yes totally!
but im learning just to remain calm (after the initial wave of shock & frustration)
and then i can find a solution!
everything that goes wrong, is not always my fault.

Oh yes!

for some reason, closing my eyes and taking a deep breath makes a stunning difference when dealing with an obtuse vacuum cleaner. Clearly, the vacuum cleaner just needed a minute to get it's head right and decide to be cooperative.

perhaps it would be a good idea to cut some things out of the schedule?? afterall, friends are way more important than schedules. :grouphug:

I think itīs just me. I have 4 months off during the summer as I work in a school. I always plan to get things done, dentist, dogs vaccinated, deep clean house, organise filing etc but find I hardly get anything done. The more time I have the less I can achieve.

Now kids are back and school and I am back at work I canīt cut anything back, the kids have extra classes with a private teacher and extra classes at school to recuperation exams they have failed. The kids have taekwondo and swimming three times a week, I feel sports activities are important after so much studying and to just get away from stuff connected to school.

I have to prepare lessons for the week and this is the worst part of my job as I am so unorganised and start 1 lesson, then 5 minutes later start another one, then another then itīs a big mess. When I do finally plan a daysīlessons I go to bed and when I wake up I canīt make sense of my notes.

There is no public transport here so I always have to drive and then wait around. If I could get my act together I could go to the gym or library, instead I smoke and drink coffee.

I know other people have crazy schedules and cope. The reality is I have time I just procrastinate and feel like I canīt cope.

I just started on concerta and my anxiety has lessened so I am hoping for more improvements.

Sorry didnīt mean to go on and on.:giggle:

I have zero patience for inanimate objects. I have to walk away before I start hitting them or throwing them. Actually, it's more because when they break they throw me out of my hyperfocus and now I have to completely redirect my line of thinking, which derails me from what I was initially doing in the first place.

Which is funny because in general I have a lot of patience for people, but if a computer makes a funny beeping noise I'll curse at it and smack it.

That would totally happen to me. I once sucked up one of my Sonic screwdrivers and I put my hand it the bag and tried my best not to break the whole thing. It all just poured out. I got it everywhere.
I ended up buying another Doctor Who figure so I could get that screwdriver back.

Any slight problem while I'm being massively productive turns into - MEEEEEELTTDOOOWWWNNN! I hate everything and everyone and I feel like such a failure.

Then I get distracted and play a game. Then later when I've calmed I try to work out a way to solve the problem.

I feel overwhelmed most days and have just learned to deal with this fact of my life.
