days off adderall and sensitivity
 

Okay, so I am relatively new to this..Last month started on Adderall and havent been taking it every day. Like I take most weekends off and actually purposely missed a few days because I wanted to see if I could actually tell the difference when I didn't take it..well its weird because my body seems to metabolize it differently?? I swear sometimes it does NOTHING at all AND other times it really seems to help. I don't get it. Well, after my check up with doc and telling him I was taking days off like weekends he told me he wanted me to take it EVERY day..he said he didnt want me to get "sensitized" to it. anyone else ever hear of that??or doc tell you that?? I actually thought I was doing a good thing by taking some days off showing I wasnt abusing it or anything (plus I also worry about building up a tolerance and needing high amounts..) but says I should take every day..

I've only been on 20 mg Adderall for about 9 days but I've kind of felt the same way. The first day I felt really motivated but the second day I wasn't. The days since then have been up and down but as a whole, I do seem a little bit more productive than before. I haven't been taking any breaks though. It could be that your doctor doesn't want you building up an unused amount to sell on the street.

It is best to take your meds consistently because adhd affects your life all the time, 24/7. It doesn't take weekends off.

@sarahsweets (If you don't mind me asking) What is your medication regimen like? Do you take less on the weekends or take the same amount every day of the week? I started to take weekends off at the beginning of taking adderall a while ago but those days were essentially total losses. BTW, My doc gives me total control over my dosing schedule and just gives me a limit for the day.

I have been on 60mg adderall xr a day for 2 years. I take 3 doses of 20mg at 5am,10am and 1pm.

I take weekends off, I don't see the point of taking them on my "fun days" unless I have something I actually need to get done that day and I'm just not focusing.
