Re: Somebody else who thinks they have ADHD

My goodness, Bashi, what a long post :P

I must admit I did not read all of it, but skipped a bit through it to get a general idea. Funny thing you mention physics .. I tried to study that because I loved (well, still love) it so much. It turned out a total failure because I could not read until the end of the sentence on the blackboard - or my book - without ending up in a different reality .. i.e. daydream-land, no matter how hard I tried. I did not even last a semester. I don't know whether I recognise everything you mention, but some things sound very familiar indeed.

It sounds like a good idea to take that post to your doctor and ask for a referral to a psychiatrist.

Oh, and about the pride. Yes, it can be a bit hard to acknowledge you have a psychiatric / neurological disorder. I was scared and felt totally lost - for two days. Somehow the relief of finding out what had been wrong with me all the time, coupled with realising what lovely people most ADD-ers are and the hope of being able to change things that I thought were hopeless melted that fear away for good.
