Music is innovative, new, and soul soothing. I have collected music for most of my life. It helps a number of adhd students focus.

I use music as a tool. I use it to get pumped up to do something, chill me out, keep me working, etc. I always have music going when I am working.

I have playlists on my computer named
  • Get into Groove
  • Workout Music
  • Be Mellow
  • DEADLINE TIME
  • ... etc.

I love music. I cant live without it. At the end of the day I must listen to music, it is the only way to sort of unwind after it all.
Somtimes it brings more order to my random thoughts...like theyre easier to manipulate.
It is relaxing but if I lisetn to it for too long my mind overloads with too much daydreaming and it gets me aggitated. Doesn't mean I'll stop listening though.
Lost in music is my favorite place to be.

I am the same way, music can help me wind down, help me get motivated to clean,it just helps me live.

When I am reading I also listen to music,it helps drown out any background noises.

I think you need to try the opposite strategy. That's b/c your concentrating too hard. You shouldn't need to concentrate to listen to music. You are just putting yourself through too much trouble. Don't try to hear the music. Just listen to the sounds. Do not try to distinguish certain sounds. Just listen to it as one flowing rythm. And if you don't completely understand the lyrics, who cares. Don't dwell on it. Just listen your brain will work if you just let it.

Music combined with anything else is bad for me. I cannot double task. I admit it. Music for me is best when I am away from everything else.

Music alone however, I can deal with and enjoy.

I cannot live without music. It is the ONE THING that got me through the darkest periods of my life because you can always find a song that describes in perfect detail how you feel about something...must have music.

Well, I no longer have the radio on in the car, which I did all the time when I lived in California and had to spend a lot of time driving.

But I realized after being diagnosed with ADD that the radio was too distracting for me.
I no longer have it on while getting ready for work in the morning either.

But I do recall listening to music a lot when I was younger, especially while painting with oils or watercolors, and letting the rhythm and lyrics direct my energy.
Especially blues and pre-metal rock.

I used to play flute, guitar, and some piano, but rarely now.

I like listening to instrumental jazz when I do listen these days.

I listen to music without lyrics, a song without lyrics can express anytype of emotion if the listener understands music.
