E-book readers as PDAs
I would like to hear opinions about E-book readers as PDAs.
I like the form-factor, and if they can run the same software as smartphones (GPS?)it should be a good PDA. Which models should I look at? how do they integrate with regular PCs? (Extra screen, tablet PC features, virtual printer?) Thanks http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-book_reader |

Re: E-book readers as PDAs
I'm not sure what you are asking but I will give it a shot. I love e-books on my HP iPAQ 2700. I use Microsoft Reader which was a bear to get going but now that I know how it works its great. e-books cost times the same as regular books but sometime the older books can be quite reasonable. I use my PDA for everything so having it carry a book a two great.

Re: E-book readers as PDAs
I was of thinking using it for other tasks than e-books. Like PDA, GPS, browsing etc. I guess there is only a few models that can do this.
Also to use it with a desktop, for example as a virtual printer. Valentine |

Re: E-book readers as PDAs
Hi, I had a sony ebook reader PSR-500 the first model by Sony.
I found it to be useful, but for scanned documents it was too hard and annoying. Zooming in and out all the time. Small screen size made it hard to read documents. Books were by Sony and they cost just as much as a paperback would. Hardware was slow and laggy. It crashed a lot and could not handle big files. No back light either. It definitely can't handle tasks that a PDA can. I think ebook readers are a great idea and reading on them definitely is more doable + the portability and convenience is so good! Sony model is definitely not worth the money. http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/mod....pl?mdl=PRS500 The iLAID was something that looked totally amazing since it had touch screen and you can edit documents by writing on the screen. It was $700 USD... too expensive! The technology still has a long ways to go. |
