Well, January/February 2012 has come and gone, and "might be available" turned out to mean "wasn't available".

I've sent an email inquiry to Mikart requesting an update on the availability of the medication. I'll post any response I receive.

Well, it appears that these are going to be instant release (IR) tabs, not extended release (ER)...er, assuming they ever actually go into production. Anyhow, 30 mg. IR tabs wouldn't work for me. I can do 15 mg. ...maybe 20 mg. tops, but more than that and I get the "paradox effect"...I get sleepy.

Hey...I just noticed that there's a message receipt in my Inbox for the inquiry I sent earlier today. So, somebody at Mikart is checking email today. No reply yet, but at least they got the message. Stay tuned...

When I emailed them about the Dexedrine IR production they said they'll be starting to make them in the summer of 2012. I'm guessing sometime in July-August

They never replied to my email. If I remember, I'll try to reach them by phone tomorrow. Meanwhile, it appears that the "Barr" IR tabs manufactured by Teva are gradually becoming available again. I had no trouble getting 540 ea. of the 5 mg. tabs last month (July), and the price was in line with what I paid before the shortage.

I agree with Vito ADDer, the generic seems to be slowly coming back.
I was able to fill my script of 10MG / 120 tabs at the beginning of the month.
But, I have seen this happen before, then "BAM", shortage again.
I can't help but wonder if all they are doing is playing games with us?
Setting us up by releasing a smalll amount, then pulling it away again.
Sorry if I'm offending anyone, I don't mean to.
Just stressed out. I'm moving at the end of Aug.
So, adding the "unknown variables" in release of medication that I need to focus makes it that much harder.
I may make it through the move, but unpacking etc... after is another story. LOL

After all it's just a weed that grows into a flower in your mind!

Yes, availability is a little better, but I'm curious about the quality of the dex we get. There's no way to know without something to compare it to.

Well if it's like my experience this month, Teva can keep it. I picked up some of the possibly new batch before heading on vacation and it resulted in muscle convulsions, uncontrollable sweating, severe headache, paranoia, and the worst most unimaginable neck and muscle pain of have ever experienced. I cut my dose to half and it still was terrible. I just finally had to quit it altogether after the first half of vacation was completely ruined. My friends and family, who I was visiting, all thought I was completely f'ed up on something which led to some conversations I didn't want to have. I was pretty close to checking myself into a hospital

It all led to filing a complaint and now I am switching to something else and questioning whether I should continue to seek treatment. I am still having eye difficulty after this happened. It's almost as if my right eye has gone lazy or off center so now I'm off to an ophthalmologist to have that looked at.

Not sure what was in this batch, but it was 100% different from what I have received in the past. Wondering if it even contains d-amp, has 10x the amount it should or if it was Chinese counterfeit or something. Just a terrible experience all around.

If you were away from home, might you have been exposed to something that could account for the symptoms? Possibly an adverse reaction between the dex and something else — like a food or other allergy? Even something in the water. I dunno...it's just tough to pinpoint the meds as the cause with any certainty if there are other factors that aren't normally in the picture.

But it's not possible to rule out the meds either. It certainly raises a question about quality control. I'm not sure how Teva's quality control could get so far out of whack, but it's definitely something you should report to your doctor, your pharmacy, and directly to Teva. If you've discovered a bad batch of the meds, it would be prudent to get the word out and help others avoid similar problems.

Totally agree with you. I was quick to blame the meds, but it could have been something else. I don't know, but man it sure sucked. I am enjoying a little break from the meds now, too bad my productivity isn't!

I hear that. When I ran out of meds at the end of March and the dex shortage made it impossible to get any more, my motivation and focus dried up, and my productivity hit a brick wall. Major suckage. Fortunately, I knew from my initial meds trials (in 1999) that methamphetamine was also effective — not ideal, but at least it worked. So I did that for about a month. Then dex ER became available again, so I got enough of those to last me about another month, after which I was able to find some dex IR tablets again.

But you've got a different problem — namely, you still haven't found the right meds (or at least the right dosage), and that's a tougher nut to crack. Alas, I can't make any recommendations. It's really a crap shoot, finding the meds that work best for you. The doctors don't know. They just try stuff until something works.

Can anyone say anything more re: Teva/Barr dextroamphetamine since the shortage's supposed end?

I've not been having the best time with the mixed salts these past few months and would like to go back, but am concerned by the above posted response.
