well this is a fine how do ya do ? ......Dmitri ......this is what's happening.....you wrote an orginal post that caused a bit of a kerfuffle amount the group here....we do tend to be a bit touchy on some subjects and many of us have real life situations that we have gone through the wringer because of pdocs


Ones that have cost us a whole lotta money, and frustration , or we don't have many choices because of where we live , or how much money we have to spend ....as the world economy right now s**** ....lots of us have got no money to see a pdoc, cause a lot of us don'[t have jobs an/or insurance...


I have to find another doctor ...( long story, not relevant here) ....and one of the local ADD pdocs ...charges $250 for the first visit, and $125 for each visit thereafter ....that, coupled with the cost of my meds means that ....(.because I must pay for all of this out of my pocket, no insurance) ....

about 1/3 of my income will be devoted to my doc and my meds .....that's more than twice as much as I had been paying .....

and the other pdoc I have found ....is 150 per visit .....


and pdocs give you 20 minute visits, once a month for that 150 or 125 .....good luck in getting any sort of in depth conversation with them .....


I was diagnosed almost 20 years ago now .....so it's been a long long long time of searching and finding and losing docs for this ....I am pretty much out of patience about it ......





if they were all Dr. Barkleys ....he**, I'd give 1/2 my income to be able to have a doc that good......


most of them aren't .....a small amount of time in the residency of a pdoc is spent on the subject of ADHD.....and while I believe a fair amount of time is spent on medications and their effeciency amd side effects ,.....that is a whole big kettle of fish, scrips and what worlks for each individual, and doctors ARE gods doncha know ? ....there is not any group of people on the planet who are more convinced of their infalibility than doctors....I know this, because I am a doctors daughter ...was raised in the medical community ....( the only people who are more convinced of their perfectness ...judges)


but the fact remains that ADHD even within the boundaries of the psychiatric profession is one of controversy .....I certainly have heard tales here about people who keep running into docs who insist that ADHD doesn't carry into adulthood ......


....I find that THIS SITE .....and only this site ...not any of the other site for ADHD .on the internet, and there are a ka-jillion of them ....but this is the one place where the truth is spoken .....I would trust the info I get here, far and above info I find anywhere else ....


....not one person's info ....when we get into a subject ....the bodies start piling up fast ....everyone adding to the fabulous stew that is in the making .....but when all is said and done ....there is a whole lotta plain old common sense as applies to the common problems we ADDers face everyday and it's the people here who dole it out, and just about everything I have read here that deals with medication and stuff to do with the ADHD itself, well the people use reference ...lots and lots of refences.. ....


...Dmitri, if you are 16 ...you get a little leeway ....just a little, ....but the posts I read, and I read the whole thread start to finish....show you to be short tempered, and prone to jumping to conclusions ....and several nice folks have tried to calm you down and show you their points of view on the subject that you brought up /.....


when you post here, you are asking to be responded to ....just because we didn't all bow our heads and say ..s*** why didn't we think of that ...????? how foolish we feel ....at your suggestion, doesn't mean that we are ignoring you, or putting you down ....we are merely trying to show you that other people have different perspectives on what you think of as a no brainer .....


.....When you calm down and read what was written perhaps you will understand what is it that they have been trying to tell you ....


or not ....I am not sure that a young man at the age of 16 is capable of seeing anyone else's viewpoint....at least that is the impression that you project.....

Been thinking about this...

I have a 17yr old and an 18yr old. My 17yr old has been a forum member for 3 years. If she posted a thread like this I'd be reading her the riot act. But....also I'd be in here defending her hammer and tongs.

I think Dmitri is out of his depth. He stirred up the hornets nest of ADHD adults and is dealing with the reactions in a way that most 16yr olds would.

Maybe we need to end this thread for his sake.
