Re: a tree landed in my front room...

So, now we have a big hole in the roof, lol.

They are putting a tarp on it and the insurance person is coming out on Monday. J and I are going to clean up the front room and assess the damage ( as well as the landlord is taking off rent for the cleaning yay!! )...

The guys that are working on the roof are really sweet, and really excited for some work. I told them I was happy to oblige, but I didn't really want a hole in the roof to be the reason they are working right now.

There's a hole in the ceiling that goes outside.

The landlord wasn't happy one iota, but hopefully he can get it fixed easy enough.

Thank god for old houses and walls that held up the branch

holy sheepdip!!!

That's crazy - no wind or anything? Wow

Re: a tree landed in my front room...

I wish I knew where I put my camera cord as I took pix while they were cutting the branches so they'd lay on the ground rather than propped up against the house (and in the roof as well).

The mess is massive and it knocked down part of our fence too Thankfully the dogs won't go near the mess of branches so I don't have to worry about them getting out of the yard.

The insurance adjuster is coming on Monday after I get off work, and I'm trying to talk DH into getting off work early to be here as well. We've made a list of our damaged items (the landlord told us too) and since we cleaned up the living room, we kept track of hours as well since we'll get "paid" for the work. He's just going to deduct it off rent which is really nice... even better since I didn't give him the rent check yet

It's making me twitchy to not clean off the books and dust the shelves and stuff, but since they are going to have to tear out part of the ceiling and make sure nothing's damaged up there (the ceiling is cracked all the way across the room), I figured there wasn't much point to dusting if it's just going to get dirty again.

At least the cats are being braver and walking into the room now
