My pdoc told me that if you let anxiety stop you from driving the worse it gets. I try to do it any way.

I don't see why it should get worse. Many people have structured their life around avoiding driving: living near a bus stop and living near shopping. If you live somewhere where there's nothing to walk to and no transit to speak of, then giving up driving is a real problem, and can lead to isolation. I'm not advocating giving up driving, just that it is possible to live without it, if you restructure your life.

Re: Driving Anxiety

Anytime I have to drive more then 45 min I get anxious, I have SCT and during rush hour one needs to be quick on the freeways. I can no longer be picky choosing jobs that I can get to by taking a side road so this has become a major issue. Meds make it easier to concentrate but it just stresses me out! We took a road trip a week ago and gosh...I had to drive 2hrs before stopping, it was insane!

Oh...and did I mention that I always get lost? Yeah...I feel safer in a familiar area or when there's no traffic on the interstate.
