Re: "Living Well Without a Job and With (Almost) No Money" Article

LOL my uncle, who undeniably has ADHD has been known to pick up road kill. He also shoots anything that he can get away with. He gets permission to cut down trees from neighbors and uses the wood to heat the house and also to make furniture...

The world is divided into those who have ate possum -- and those who haven't. Protein is protein.

With the housing crisis there should be plenty of vacant housing still available in the suburbs. It's always good to have neighbors that don't freak out about a curing deer pelt hanging on the side of the garage.

It also suddenly makes a job and being in the rat race look a lot more pleasant. LOL

Re: "Living Well Without a Job and With (Almost) No Money" Article

hmmm.... I haven't read everything but really I would prefer "living simply and well(recycling, eating locally/organic if possble, etc) - with a job and some money to buy stuff once in a while".

The blood washes off and the smell goes away......lol......I'll stick with "kickin' it old school" vs. the rat race anyday. (with any luck)

Re: "Living Well Without a Job and With (Almost) No Money" Article

I think the smell is what would get me. . . I've done dissections of small animals, and if you slip or miss and get the intestine, it's gotta be one of the worst smells imaginable.

That and blood smells sickly sweet to begin with. . .

It's funny, though, how quickly one can desensitize to the whole process . . . I guess that's both a blessing and a curse depending on how you look at it.

I've been a participant in hundreds of butcherings and the smell never bothered me. The kill did.
