Methylphenidates such as Ritalin (plain Methylphenidate), Focalin (dextromethylphenidate), and their many time release variations.

Non-stimulants such as Strattera and Intuniv. Both are, however, fairly expensive.

Wellbutrin (Bupropion), which is a dopamine/norephinerine reuptake inhibitor most oftenly used as an anti-depressant.

Amphetamines such as Adderall (75% dextroamphetamine salts 25% levoamphetamine salts) and Dextrostat/Dexedrine (pure dextroamphetamine) and their time release variations. There is also Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine), which is metabolized into dextroamphetamine. Desoxyn (methamphetamine) is rarely prescribed as well, with many doctors being unwilling to prescribe it, but asking for it without trying several other options over a long period of time is going to raise a few eyebrows.

Re: What kinda of meds work for adhd

There is also a substantial amount of off-label prescribing of for Provigil (Modafinil) and Namenda (Memantine) to treat ADHD.

You can also try the tricylic anti-depressants, though they have many common (negative) side-effects.

I've read Benzphetamine (think of it like Vyvanse, but it metabolizes into dextromethamphetamine AND dextroamphetamine as opposed to only dextroamphetamine) and Phendimetrazine (a prodrug to Phenmetrazine) are rarely used off-label for ADHD. However, Benzphetamine has some side effects not found in it's metabolites and Phendimetrazine is very rarely prescribed even for the conditions it is approved for due to its metabolite, which acts exactly like amphetamine but with fewer side effects, was favored over methamphetamine and amphetamine when it existed as a medication in the past (notably, the Beatles used it, under the brand name Preludin, to help finish an album at one point). Both are short-term weigth loss drugs for the dangerously obese, but they are very rarely prescribed off-label treatment of ADHD in the longterm, though this typically occurs in formally obese people with ADHD that, while taking these medications to treat their obesity, their ADHD was treated as well.
