Sleeping Aids for Adderall users?

I've been having trouble sleeping lately, and I think it's because of my job. I'm

outside in the sun all-day, and whenever I'm trying to sleep I either get too

hot or too cold. I also believe that it's my medicine that keeps me up. So, I

would like know how you guys that have the same problem deal with it, or

what you take to get to sleep. I did take Tylenol PM for my headaches, it did work for the first 3

days from just taking one, but now I do take 2 a night and they are having no

effect on me. I stopped taking them because I know they can mess up your

liver and kidneys if you take them every night. Any suggestions, advice, and

opinions are welcome, and will be deeply appreciated.

Re: Sleeping Aids for Adderall users?

If you think your adderall is contributing to trouble sleeping, I would take it earlier in the day. I know the first week or so I was having trouble sleeping taking the adderall, but it subsided. That and I made sure that with adderall IR there was at least a 6 hour gap between my taking adderall and going to bed when the IR is only effective for me for 4 hours. I know some people take melatonin for sleep issues, but I personally have no experience with this.

I take 50 mg Seroquel for sleep (which is pretty hardcore) and find that usually works with the Addy. Sometimes i still have to bite off a bit of another pill though.

Re: Sleeping Aids for Adderall users?

Have you tried taking your Adderall earlier in the day? If the medicine is keeping you awake at night (and it probably is), then you should be able to mitigate some of the insomnia by pushing your dose up earlier in the morning. So for example, if you take it at 10 AM and can't fall asleep until 2 AM, maybe try taking it at 8 AM so you can fall asleep by midnight. When I was on Nuvigil I had the same problem, the medicine worked great for the reason I was taking it (sleep disorder) but I had to start taking it much earlier in the day (around 6:30 AM) so that it wouldn't keep me up all night.

Re: Sleeping Aids for Adderall users?

Trazodone is working very well for me. I've heard it works well for people who take Adderall too.
No grogginess in the morning and it's the least expensive sleep medication out there. ($4 for a months supply without insurance)
