Do you find anything stimulating? If so, what?

Besides normal bodily functions any human would find stimulating (ie: food, sex, certain illegal drugs, etc).

Re: Do you find anything stimulating? If so, what?

I get hyperfocus by thinking up new projects and plans. I can also get into this state when I find a new, interesting topic to research.

I'm only good for about a week or two before my brain shunts the project from the exciting planning motivated startup phase (Amygdala, I think) to the long term, buckle down and get **** done phase (Neo Cortex, I think).

And we all know how that goes after that :P

MUSIC! Put on my favorite tunes and off i go!

Travel - If I know i'm going on a trip, whether it's to see a friend 10 minutes away or vacation, that gets my head thinking.

When I set the timer for my clothes to finish in the laundry room - For some reason, when that timer is going, I get sooooo much done in 45 minutes.

Re: Do you find anything stimulating? If so, what?

Video games, driving, playing guitar, the internet...if I don't take my meds these are the only things I normally find myself able to focus on.

Re: Do you find anything stimulating? If so, what?

Reading is something I find really stimulating. Also drawing and coloring. Music is also something stimulating. Going for walks, talking to people (sometimes), dancing, video games, even cleaning sometimes.

I read what interests me, I hyperfocus on those things. I am unable to read things that don't interest me....it is extremely difficult.

Re: Do you find anything stimulating? If so, what?

I find stimulation stimulating and stimulants stimulating.

Seriously though. Sex is a big one--yeah, I know you said besides that one. But it's one of my answers.

I find reading, driving fast, motorcycles, creating something, going to plays, going to museums, trying something new that I'm apprehensive about or scared to try stimulating.

Re: Do you find anything stimulating? If so, what?

My car, working with my hands (if it something i want to be working on), and computer games are my three biggest vices. But photography seems to follow closely behind those (well it use to but has lots its appeal over the last year or so)

Re: Do you find anything stimulating? If so, what?

everything is stimulating in its own way...i.e , walking to uni is so much more fun when you start pulling the leaves off the bushes on the way and have your headphones on full blast, sitting down is just about bearable once you start ******* with the person sitting next to you poking , prodding, starting playfights :P chose your stimulus wisely, you can get in to a lot of trouble

Re: Do you find anything stimulating? If so, what?

Reading

Being outdoors - taking in the sights, sounds, and smells; feeling the sun and wind

Swimming in the ocean

Music

Meaningful conversations

Playing with and petting dogs

Working as a team (not sports, though) or watching people work together

Driving on winding roads

Eating garlic (love it!)

Mentally-stimulating tasks

This forum!

Re: Do you find anything stimulating? If so, what?

NOVELTY!!

Doing anything or going anywhere or meeting anyone

Checking into pysch hospital when I was depressed, I was shocked to be asked why I had been smiling thru my intake questionaire, I couldn't answer but now recognize the uplift from the stimulation of the novelty of the situation I was in.
